You are one such student - selected to join the prestigious [i]New Heights Academy[/i] out of nearly half a million other applicants! You would consider yourself lucky... If the first day of school hadn't gone so terribly for you. See, while you definitely got [i]in[/i], you still had to take the academy's Entrance Exam. Instead of being the deciding factor of who gets accepted, the Headmasters use the exam to gauge each new student's aptitude and rank them compared to one another. Long story short, you placed rock bottom among the rankings, and everybody knows. The infamous "Bottom 10". In the face of adversity and being social outcasts, the Bottom 10 unite with one simple goal: to improve themselves, raise in the rankings, and shove it in the faces of every other student who says they should stay down! I mean, what else could go wrong for them?[hr] [b][u]SETTING[/u][/b] [img]https://i.imgur.com/l2PnNNA.jpg[/img] [h3]New Heights Academy![/h3] Despite being only a decade old, New Heights is a very prominent Hero School. It's one of the few schools to take in students on an international level, was founded by the widely known Atéline twins, and resides on its own private island just North-West of Hawaii. New Heights is known for being very selective in its application process; anyone with a Quirk can apply, but a mere 50 are hand-picked to attend. Though there are rumors that it's actually completely random who they choose to accept... The academy has dorms for its students, and also invites their immediate family/guardians to come live on the island with them. Being far from mainland and major cities means it's less likely that the school and anyone on the island are collateral damage for villain attacks (which is definitely a bigger concern nowadays). New Heights is also well-known for its so-called Entrance Exam, but for more controversial reasons. Since the students that are selected to attend are already [i]selected[/i], New Heights uses the exam to test the attendees on their grasp on their Quirk, thinking under pressure, and critical thinking. There are robots worth different points (why fix what isn't broke?) and also special ribbons that have point values on them, to help even the field for non-combative Quirks. The students are ranked, from 50 to 1, based on how they did during the exam. Rankings are public knowledge and are liable to change throughout their time in the academy - this is [i]supposed[/i] to foster competitive spirit and healthy rivalries among the different classes, but in practice it produces a very steep social ladder, with those at the top put on a pedestal and those at the bottom barely considered worthy to be there. But even so, New Heights is praised for its efficiency, and students keep coming year after year.[hr] [b][u]CHARACTER STUFF[/u][/b][/center] [hider=Guidelines] • [b]Keep the tone.[/b] I'm not trying to dictate how your characters are, but I would like a middle-ground. Nothing [i]too[/i] serious and nothing [i]too[/i] goofy. Of course a character who leans more one way than the other is fine! • [b]First come, first serve.[/b] With 50 rankings, and Rank 50 - 41 being the focal point, whoever claims a number gets it. Just be sure to double-check the thread before you post your character. • [b]Higher ranks can be taken![/b] Obviously, the premise revolves around the Bottom 10 students, but you can make a character that's in a higher ranking if you'd prefer. That said... • [b]You're allowed two characters![/b] However, if you do want two characters, they have to be separated, ie you can only have one in the Bottom Ten and one that isn't. • [b]Embrace weirdness.[/b] This is more of a personal suggestion, but I would like to see characters that are creative or, well, weird. MHA is full of weird-looking people and bizarre Quirks, so don't be afraid to be a bit off-kilter with things! Quirks usually have a limit or downside to them, especially with under-developed ones, so use your best judgement here!) [i]History:[/i] (What their life was like before arriving at New Heights, why they applied to the school, and so on. Like UA students can be 'endorsed' and get a guaranteed spot instead of having to apply and be picked, but they still take the exam) [i]Exam Report:[/i] (Since the RP starts once the Exam is done, here's where you explain just how they did and why! It works like this: three tiers of Robotic Combatants at different point values, and five types of ribbons. Robots beat / ribbons collected count, regardless of how. If they're in the Bottom 10, be sure to include a brief bit about what happened, be it their own fault or somebody else's.)
