It's just a type of star, but it's a pretty cool one that gets brighter and dimmer regularly. The most esoteric way I can think to use that is you could use that is give off a light that let's people know how far away you are, but mostly what appeals to me is being able to throw around nuclear fire while being very aesthetic.
