She doesn't care much about her appearance beyond making sure her hair and clothes are clean. Joan's hair is a dull, medium brown and it's the straightest, least curly hair you've ever seen. The strands tend to gather into awkward spikes that are almost as prickly as her personality. Joan's eye colour is a light grayish blue, although from a distance it's hard to tell. The girl's voice is sharp and almost a bit nasal when she raises it. She's 5'4". Background: Nicole Joan is half-Norwegian, although she's never lived in Norway. Joan was placed into foster care at the age of seven becuase her parents were deemed unfit to care for her. After that she spent a few years going through the system, switching from home to home. She was permanently taken in by a nice couple at the age of nine, and albeit Joan was luckier than many others, she still had a hard time connecting with the foster parents. The rift only worsened when puberty hit and Joan began piecing together her own personality along with normal teenage rebellion. Despite her personal struggles, outwardly Joan's life was very desirable. She was doing well in school - especially in science - and her foster parents were two of the loveliest people you could've hoped for. They were secure, middle-class, and fully supported Joan's plans for university. She even had an attentive boyfriend named Benjamin; a warm, stable presence in Joan's life. It was all working out for Joan. Why would she ever want to leave? She is often dubbed "the ice queen" for a reason, as it doesn't take two seconds for her prickly personality to lash out. Joan is easily irritated and voices her opinions a bit too bluntly, not caring if she comes across bitchy or not. She can be nice, too. It's just hard to believe from looking at her. She's had the thought more often than she'd like to admit, actually. Just no plan for how to execute it. Still, even without a plan Joan would be a dirty liar if she said she hadn't thought of leaving everything behind at a moment's notice. As for where she'd go, the girl isn't quite sure. Maybe somewhere on the countryside, some a small town in central Europe. Someplace where no one knew her.
