Well for starters Slade is in fact his first name, Slade Wilson in full, and he's akin to Batman in skill, a Master of all trades kinda guy. He is slightly superhuman due to super solider program he went through and does have a healing factor because of it as well.

Main reason I asked, as well as one of the main things I'm planning on not having be the case in this RP, is the fact that he's also a father. Something of a good parent, depending on your point of view, he purposefully ostracized himself from them so that they wouldn't be dragged down any further by his associations with the underworld as his son lost the ability to speak because of it.

That's also the reason he chose to fail the contract he took on the Titans, though I also have something of a fun personal theory about a different reason why in addition to that one. That theory was that he was hired by Batman to help prepare the Titans for the real world.
