“Anvellor. That is the name that we have given to the land we inhabit. Though we do not know how big it is, we call this land home, and it was our ancestor’s home. Yet, we know little of Anvellor. Sure, we know plenty of our home’s eastern coast, and the regions of Samare, Metia and Umbara, as well as Isilra, Lezin, and Amierre. But we do not know what lies further to our west, or what our world was like ages ago. Our land is covered in ruins and relics. Tombs and dungeons. Evidence of civilizations long since gone. We inherited this world from our ancestors… but they did not leave us their history. Though we have records dating back a thousand years, nobody knows what this world was like before that. What nation once called itself the ruler of the lands we call home? What became of them? Did they shatter in a civil war? That would explain why there are so many nations. Did it break due to an external threat? We know little about our ancestors, but not due to a lack of trying. For years, the adventurous and courageous among us traveled west, wandering through the wilderness of Anvellor and finding ruins of both great structures and simple cottages. For as long as our nations have kept records, we ventured into the unknown to uncover our history, and bring back relics of the nations that came before ours. In both war and peace, we have set out to discover our past, to no avail. But now, some among us have faith that we will soon find out our world’s history. The League of Explorers is preparing it’s many members for a grand adventure westward to lead the way and rediscover our history. The westernmost nations are recruiting settlers to follow them, and international tensions are at it’s lowest. We might be on the verge of discovering what happened to our ancestors. Perhaps, this is the dawn of a new age of Exploration and Discovery. An age in which our nations and peoples will thrive. One in which all our questions will be answered. And who knows. Perhaps it could be you that leads us into this age.” - Recruitment Poster for the League of Explorers ——— Welcome, dearest of readers! I am happy you decided to check out my thread, so let me tell you a bit more about what exactly this is. Tales of Anvellor will be an RP set in the land of Anvellor, a large but mostly unexplored continent. The east coast of which is the only properly explored part of the world, and is home to various species and nations. The eastern coast is divided into six regions, each with a different climate and terrain. The frozen wastelands and Tundras that make up Isilra are the northernmost of these regions, followed by the temperate lands of Samare. Further south is the Lezin mountain range, which separates it from the large Metia desert, home to the Anubites and their Theocracy. Going even further south would take one through the Savannas of Umbara, and then the mostly unexplored jungles of Amierre. Anvellor is inhabited by a few different species (which I’ll go into detail about later), including humans. Anvellor’s forests, plains, swamps, deserts… well, the entirety of Anvellor is covered in ruins, really. Ruins of a long lost civilization that is thought to have ruled the known - and unknown - world at one time, before something caused them to collapse, leading to the rise of the many nations that now lay claim over small sections of the known world. These ruins vary from cottages to castles, cities to catacombs, tombs to towers. Some more intact than others, some inhabited by monsters, while some are completely hidden and overgrown. Within these ruins, explorers often find valuables or sometimes even powerful magic items, making exploration a lucrative if dangerous way of life. Around the time the RP starts, Anvellor is experiencing an increase in interest in it’s past. As a result, the League of Adventurers is getting it’s many members to prepare for a series of explorations further west than anyone has ever gone before, while at the same time trying to get more people to register as a member, hoping to gain influence by trying to ensure that, if anyone discovers anything groundbreaking, they’ll be a member of the League. But not everything is as exciting and peaceful as it sounds. Despite everything, there are still tensions between some of Anvellor’s many nations, and some people fear that wars might break out soon. Not just that, but strange incidents in both the far north and far south are a cause of concern among some of Anvellor’s more pessimistic scholars. That, and the explorations westward aren’t without danger either, as wild animals and dangerous monsters roam the lands of Anvellor. Either way, Anvellor is about to enter a new Era, and there is only one way to find out whether it’ll be an era of Glory and Adventure, or one of War and Death. And I hope you’ll be there to join me! If you have any questions about… well, pretty much anything, don’t hesitate to ask!
