[indent]Honestly Josephine is kinda a hot mess right now. After the Daddy Scandal™, the once expressive and funloving girl began to close off until only a select few in her life remained. Anyone that knew her before high school would remember her as the soft-spoken girl brunette girl that would do other's homework in return for having friends. She flew under the radar, for the most part, neither unpopular nor popular. To friends, she was kind and would do anything they asked of her. She'd follow them to the ends of the Earth if they'd asked. 

After freshman year, things changed for Josephine. After losing a few friends (whether it was from her side or from theirs, she can't recall anymore), she embraced her general quietness and kept her head down to help her mom through the divorce. It was a tough year as the divorce dragged on, and outwardly Josephine began to express her frustration and anger through experimenting with hair colours and temporary piercings or tattoos.

Now, Josephine is still socially stupid as ever and can maybe count all her friends on one hand. But she's loyal to the ones that have stuck by her through thick and thin. If she ever makes it big, she'll have the misfits to thank.

[indent]Josephine Durham was born to a middle-class family on a chilly December morning. Despite the lack of funds or an old name to carry them far, she grew up relatively comfortably. Together, they took advantage of the rich in Beverly Hills by opening a pet grooming and sitting store for those with too much money to spend and not enough time to shower their furry friends with.

The Pet Inn is even older than Josephine and her elder brothers Finley and Mason. Josephine remembers helping out at the store pretty much since she could learn how to read and walk. They lived comfortably and from there Josephine grew to be fond of animals and working as a tight unit. However, the happy little family didn't remain happy for long.

The fifty-seven-year-old Durham patriarch had been screwing the eighteen-year-old receptionist at the Pet Inn for months. When the news got out, things went tits up. As things tend to go in a tight-knit community: people talk. When people talk, details change. Soon, according to the rumours, the receptionist went from being eighteen to fourteen. Tongues wagged and it even caused the police to come checking on the Durhams. The allegations and cheating broke poor Mama Durham apart, but what utterly shattered her was the divorce papers Michael served the day he decided to leave town with the receptionist. The Pet Inn never really recovered from the scandal and rumours despite the rebranding once Michael had left the family. People just don't want to be associated with that [i]groomer's[/i] family, in both senses of the word. 

Josephine dropped her vocal classes and choir group in order to help out her mom at the store more often until eventually, her life became three things: home, school and the Pet Inn. Josephine then began to retreat into a shell, guarding herself against everyone. She also began to experiment with crazy hair colours until it became the norm.

Life continued until graduation, when her mom surprised her with the news that her brother and sister-in-law would be moving into the home for a while, enabling her to go for that road trip of a lifetime with her friends and recapture that youth she had to miss out on. Josephine, needless to say, gladly accepted the offer.[/indent][/indent]
