Councilor Bet Eil walked down the halls of the administrative building with her typical nervous smile, in her hands she had a metal tray, and over the tray, there was a pile of papers. Despite her touch being heavily corrosive to most types of fiber, the slime was often tasked with bureaucratic work. She reached a door and tried to knock on it, but no matter how hard she banged against the wood she could not make any noise outside of faint *sploosh*. Sighing, she stayed still for a moment, pondering deeply about a course of action. "Oh, I could grind the tray against the metal frame!" The plan worked, someone rushed to the door. "What is up with this hellish noise!?" said Headmistress Messalina Dumont, gritting her teeth, her eyes shining red, as she opened the door. "Betty? Let me guess, you forgot I have a doorbell again... Sigh. Get in." Bet Eil nodded shyly and followed the Headmistress as she went inside. Messalina quickly regained her composure, gently walking to her chair, sitting down, and patting the table. "The newcomer reports, I assume?" she questioned as she poured some more whiskey in a small glass with three ice cubes in them. "Ah, yes! That is correct, uhh, Mistress." she nodded. "Seems like we have a peculiar crowd this time, the poor officer seemed like he had aged ten years in a day." "As expected. The stricter the central academies become, the more students we get. After what happened in the Imperial Institute, its no surprise. Serves then right though, maybe this year they will rank under the Federal Academy of Esoteric Research... that would be quite a sight!" she smirked, before picking up the papers from the tray. "So, let's see the first batch of little angels..." she took off one glove and licked a finger before starting to sort out the papers. "Daria. Catfolk... doesn't even know how to read or how to use magic. Probably doesn't have any money. But I guess a cat has its uses. Say... is that dorm in the roof still empty?" "Uh, miss, I don't think she is an actual cat, furthermore, that room is in a terrible state..." "I will that take as a yes. Next one, Kate Carson..." her smile started to disappear. "Journalist and photographer, hiding after ratting out the elites." "Yeah, you probably won't want her to join the academy's photography club. We are already having so much trouble with just those three..." "Ah, don't you worry about that," she smirked, stirring her whisky, hearing the ice blocks clink against each other and the glass. "We had a talk earlier today, the photography club has been disbanded and those students were cordially invited to seek an institution more fit for their journalistic pursues." Bet Eil bit her lips and furrowed her eyebrows. "You didn't do anything harsh, did you, Mistress?" "Oh no no, trust me, they are fine, just chilling around. Let's move on to the next one on the list. Feier Fiammetta... Oh? Oh!" she laughed. "Pff! Admas Alemu is going to love this, its the girl who set fire to the I.I.M, what a small world." "Sounds like a lot of extra costs..." "You need to think out of the box. For example, we could give her a dorm under the aquarium or the pool and have her heat those for free." "She would damage the structure and cause the whole place to be flooded!" "Hmm, maybe. But it's still cheaper to deal with drowned students than having them reduced to ash piles. No separating them into piles so they don't mix, no making sure there isn't debris on the ashes, no chances of them being reborn as weird half-rat half-person chimeras." "Let's move on, please. I don't want to remember the chimera incident." The slime said, placing a hand over her mouth. "Contain yourself, Betty. Nevertheless, next on the list, Augustus Walter Lacey-Vane. Wait, oh, its the other half of the I.I.M incident. Well, well, well, we really are getting the crème de la crème. A tendency to freeze over things... We should pair him with the fire girl, what's her name..." "Feier, you just read her name Mistress... But... why? Is there any reason? It would make it hard for us to isolate their room using elemental wards." "Oh no, nothing that complex. I just thought... it would be neat. Maybe their curses will merge creating a hybrid dampness curse!" "That is unlikely..." "Well, anyway, next we have... that dude who opened a demon portal in the I.I.M!" "What!? No way..." " I am merely jesting, silly slime. Its, uh... oh! Now that is a familiar name. Astaroth, Taker of Souls, Lord Above All, Master of the 8th Underworld Legion. Vivi's kid has grown quite a lot." "You... know this... person?" "Kinda knew his mother, distant acquaintances I guess. Aww, she called Fae Creek horrendous, bless her." she took a long sip of her whiskey. "Moving on, we have, who... ah. Now it's actually the person who opened the gates of hell in the I.I.M" she sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Guess I jinxed it." Bet Eil simply nodded, though Messalina had said it, echoing her thoughts would be taken as an offense. "Well, let's see, spatial magic, demon traits, seems like a troublemaker, into sweets." she took a deep breath, her mood was sour, until she read rich and influential parents. "Alright, we can work with this. Perhaps it could be a positive addition to our school we cannot judge people too quickly." "Two demons it seems, we could use some divine intervention..." "Why, Betty, it seems your prays are answered! We now have a saint. Very interesting... Imagine having a few of these here? Sure the preaching might be annoying, but our electricity bill would go down a lot! Oh, the officer already suggested we pair her with Vivi's kid, I was about to say that too. Nice." Messaline stretched in her chain, so many new students, it was more than last year for sure, probably a good sign for Fae Creek, but it didn't paint a good image for the federation's youth. "So, our next student is... hmm... hmmm!" "Another demon? Saint? A demon saint?" Bet Eil asked, tilting her head a bit, trying to peek. "A girl from the moon." the headmistress announced. "What, no way, are you joking?" the slime gasped. "Why are you impressed considering the list we have so far? Do not get overexcited, however. It's more likely some lunatic chimera than an actual Lunarian." "They are both their own particular type of trouble, I should talk with her and see what I can do..." "Good luck to you, Betty. For our next student... Helena Lyudmil Lorell von Blancschildt. Oh, that sounds like a rich girl's name, yes please~" the headmistress bore a wide smile for a moment, which slowly vanished. "Ah, nope, it was just a girl with a lot of names, bleh," she added, throwing the paper away. "But Mistress, you can't just throw it away because of that!" Bet Eil said with a pout, extending the tray to catch it. "We can't have a student with no records, especially one this complex, suffering from possession... Oh, she is a cat too, don't you like that." "I already have the other cat, whatever her name was. You know what Betty, send her, the other cat, and the little lunatic girl to the tower." "I get the first two but why the latter?" "Well, she says she fell from the moon, surely if she ends up tripping down from the tower it won't hurt," she smirked. "Next, we have this elf girl called Eira. It seems like a pretty nice addition!" "But she struggles with finances... Isn't that the only thing you truly hate in a person?" "Well yes, but also, she has dragons." for once the Headmistress' smile was somewhat sincere. "Dragons are pretty cool Betty." "I guess they are." Bet Eil smiled back. "Oh is this the last document?" "My administrative instincts tell me this isn't all, perhaps he misplaced a few papers, moreover, there are some late interviews." the headmistress explained, before gently taking the paper sheet with one hand, shaking her glass with the other hand before finishing it off. "A necromancer it seems, half-vampire, likes to explore the anatomy of new creatures, feels... familiar, somehow? Hmm. Nevertheless, seems like she'd fit right in with our white mages." Bet Eil took a deep breath, and nodded, forcing a smile. "I guess she does, in a sense..." "Well, keep me informed about the rest of the students, alright? Droxl is making a little welcoming party, maybe you should go there while we wait?" "Y-yeah I know about that." She was one of the people who had organized it, with money out of her own pocket since, of course, Messalina wouldn't contribute to it. "I will bring you any missing report. Thanks for you time, Mistress."

"Welcome! Class of 4997" an overly colorful banner announced, surrounded by balloons. This was happening at one of the main gardens, a suitable place for the welcome event to the students, where they would meet up, get to know each other and some teachers and even get to eat some snacks for free. Droxl hummed as he continued to bind the balloons to ropes with his big lizard claws. "Don't you think its a bit too garish, Droxl?" Prof. Celia Reed questioned, sitting on the grass, eating a cup cake while observing the Director in his work. THE MORE COLORFUL THE MORE CHEERFUL THE PARTY. I SAW IT IN MY HATCHLINGS' CEREMONY!" "This is an academy, they are not children..." The Sphinx added. "Ya sure love to complain for a cat which is doing nothing but sit around and eat the kid's snacks. Leave Droxl alone." Prof. Potira said to Celia as she reached down and picked a few loose balloons. "And what are you doing to help, my plantae friend?" she asked while adjusting her glasses. "Important work." the plant girl said, while picking up the spare balloons and throwing them at Prof. Cyrus, the Magi's electric field making it so the globes would stick to him. "Cease it! Cease it I say! Or I shall leave this meet up at this instant!" the Luddite teacher complained, trying to slap the balloons away. The only other teacher who was around to greet the students was Prof. Thalis. who was working on the snack table, making sure everything was symmetrical and following a color pallet. "Hmm... Yes. I think this is enough. Or maybe... turning this cake a bit would help the symmetry..." For all of their shortcomings, the welcome party did look pleasant. And soon enough, the students would start to arrive.
