He stands at around 5' and 10" with a rather lean build, brown hair that always seems to find itself knotted and matted with mud or dirt, and dull brown eyes. Kane's neatly trimmed facial hair almost seems to stand out in contrast to his rather "mangy" appearance, along with his symmetrical features and lack of blemishes or scars. Kane's outfit is what makes him stand out most of all when in public or working "sanctioned" jobs. He sports a flowing red cloak over his blue-dyed leather armor, with matching red accents throughout. Strapped along his chest in a bandoleer are his signature throwing knives, while two serrated daggers sit prominently on his hips. The muted blues and reds of his outfit barely don't stand out too harshly in a dimly lit forest or castle, but stick out like a sore thumb among the stone grays of a dungeon (and have nearly cost him his life a few times). [*]Twenty Throwing Knives, ten usually held in his bandoleer at a time. [*]A blackjack securely hidden in a "holster" located on Kane's lower back. [*]A set of thieves' tools, which includes a few sets of lock picks. [*]A small diamond etched with arcane symbols embedded in a bracelet on his wrist that acts as an arcane focus. [*]A set of blue-dyed leather armor, along with a red cloak. [*]A travelling pack with a quick-release strap to allow Kane to lose the excess weight quickly in the heat of battle. [*]A set of 50 ft. rope tied up on the side of his travelling pack. [*]A bedroll, messkit, and tinderboxes stuffed in his travelling pack. [*]A lantern and a couple pints of oil strapped to a travelling pack. [*]A Waterskin.
Signature Techniques: Sneak Attack: A powerful attack when used in conjunction with his illusion spells or quick teleportation magic. Kane has a good eye for locating the weak spots of enemies and cutting them down to size. Trap Sense: Kane's not only been in a few dungeons, but the homes of an elite rich enough to afford the best in anti-theft traps. He's gotten used to not only noticing the presence of said traps, but in dodging them when they inevitably go off. Picking: Kane, with his nimble fingers, has become quite proficient at picking both locks and pockets over the years. This skill has come in handy for everything from making a quick exchange of goods before a pressure pad can activate to opening long-locked doors. Illusions: Kane's primary focus when it comes to his use of magic is in keeping things distracted for long enough that he can either get away or strike a wicked blow. He is able to craft anything from an illusory bridge to a pile of coin, while also being able to use his illusions to briefly change his own appearance. Blinking and Stepping: Kane's major means of defense come in the form of being able to teleport a short distance away from situations, or to sometimes disappear from combat into the ethereal plane from time to time. History: Kane Blackwell wasn't born to much. He was the son of a farmer and a housewife, and the third of five children. If Kane hadn't been born with a strange mark on his left arm and a penchant for mischief, his life most likely would have been uneventful. Nevertheless, the universe had other plans. Ever since he was young, Kane had found that the universe acted... strangely around him. When he got lost in his imagination, he could have sworn that sometimes the images he conjured up in his mind would appear around him briefly when he snapped back to reality. The weirdest occurrence, however, and the one that had Kane revealed to the powers that be as a sorcerer, was his incidental "disappearing" when he got startled. His family did their best to hide his abilities and just explain them away as Kane's imagination running wild. When Kane was seventeen and the Blackwells were visiting the city of Kyril, Kane decided to get in a little bit of trouble. The boy had always been mischievous whilst also being poor, and had "sticky fingers." While doing business in the city, Kane's eye caught figure in a rather magnificent cloak flanked by two guards strolling about. The boy, from both courage and stupidity, attempted to pick the pocket of the Baron of Kyril. It didn't end well, and just as Kane was caught by one of the Baron's guards, he disappeared. The Baron recognized the ability, since Kyril was known for having a school for the study of magic. In the Baron's "infinite mercy," Kane was to be sentenced for eight years of study and service to the state. And so, Kane's life took a turn. He was thrust from poverty to the realm of the magical elite. He was gifted an arcane focus and knowledge in how to control his talents in illusory magic and in minor teleportation magic. To better serve the state, Kane was taught to serve as a a burglar for adventuring parties. He was able to hone his skills in trap detection over time delving into old dungeons and investigating criminal dens, all with a clever grin and a series of quips along the way. Something that Kane discovered in his training as a thief and getting in a few scraps in his sanctioned missions that just like he could detect traps, he was able to notice chinks in armor and the defenses of enemies that he could capitalize on. When combined with his more controlled ability to blink in and out of sight or magically teleport in a puff of smoke through the battlefield, he could prove deadly against weaker foes or those who left themselves open to his daggers. Of course, Kane isn't the perfect son of the state. With his abilities, Kane has also been able to help the poor and his own family. In between sanctioned assignments for Kyril, Kane has spent his free time breaking into the estates of the rich undetected to steal gold and items of value to give back to those in need. The worst thing he had ever done was knock unconscious a few guards who were a little too guard at their job after getting the drop on them. That is, until three weeks ago. Kane had been freed from his sentence a little over a month ago, but was invited to a private meeting with the Baron. The Baron had decided that Kane was too good at his job, and that he had been accused and charged with the crime of severe theft, and would be sentenced to another ten years of service. Kane left the estate furious. The following morning, the Baron was found to have died in his sleep, and Kane was trying to get as far away from Kyril as possible.
