With his long, dark, messy hair and piercing onyx eyes, truly, his lustrous body and resplendent face matches. As a sportsman, Rin diligently maintains his healthy and toned body for the purpose of good health and reward, it's belief that ones body is a temple of ownership. Rin sports monotonous colors and sometimes shades of blue, expressing his cool nature and icy archetype. Upon his Ishin school attire, no modifications are made due to his analogous notion of bad graffiti, his looks just make the uniform look good. Contrary to his fashion, Rin shines a set of diverse expressions while maintaining his reserved demeanor.
[sub]Characterization[/sub]
Approachable Cool Calculating Condescending Jaded Kuudere Perfectionist Troll
[sub]Personal History[/sub]
"Just like the shade of snow That hasn't completely melted away I continue on with these feelings inside me.." The tragic Winter Story of Rin: an overachieving yet neglected Asian boy by his aloof father and was raised by his late mother, Furuya Wakana in the enclosure canton of Kutchan, Shiribeshi Subprefecture. With divorced parents, Rin's raised by his mother and carried her maiden-name; Furuya, his mother owned a 2-hectare farm renowned within the town for cultivating potatoes, contributing to the region. Rin was an amiable young boy whose goal was to become a Doctor to heal his terminally-ill mother, at a young age, Rin developed accounting skills as he learned and worked side-by-side with his mother, he posed as the town's cute mascot, Potato-Kun for marketing cute strat. While Rin's mother wasn't in good terms with Takahashi Ryu, Rin's father, the old man supported Rin in his endeavors all throughout Middle School. The family met time to time and as innocent Rin was that time, he swallowed his sadness about the matter and earnestly told his parents that he will be a Doctor to heal his mother, Rin's older sibling, Takahashi Mari was also supportive of him despite the divorce of their parents. Rin also admired his older sister, Mari, an aspiring Hero who studied in Shiketsu, they were amicably close despite the divorce of their parents. As Rin grew to surpass the odds academically and sportily, he was under the supportive hype of supporting his mother yet almost had no time to emotionally bond with her as he's devoted to his studies. Rin attended Niseko Academy during Middle School and this was when his passion for Heroes, flourished. He met a girl named Asahina Aimi, who passionately told him about Heroes, she was that friend whom he confided as his burdens were shared by Aimi. She was always present wherever Rin went, even in family matters until his mother passed away, Rin grew distant and closed most of his relationships. Hey, with what words Should I close the door on this love? As Rin's mother was gone and prior to the event of pushing Aimi away, Rin was visited nonstop by his father and sister to take custody of him but insisted relentlessly as he was emotionally broken. Rin became broken and couldn't live on without the death of his mother, depression ate him and his life spiraled down, he leisurely eats potatoes and bought milk to stay happy. One day, he received calls from Aimi and ignored it, only to find out that she was almost killed by a mugger. Rin cried at Aimi's shoulder and tried getting in touch but it didn't last long before he could confess his love to her: he caught her redhanded, confessing to upperclassmen, he didn't take it well. At the half of his second year of Middle school, Rin was under the custody of his father and sister in Otaru, they tried to cheer him up but none worked. Rin met a girl named Kira who shared sad similarities as him, she became his confidant and introduced him to figure skating. Their relationship lost contact since Kira moved away with her family in Tokyo while Rin chose Ishin for High School to pursue his Hero career.
[sub]Character Development & Conceptualization[/sub]
Rin is a broken bird whose heart is frozen cold; locked within a cage and depressed, an empty husk, stripped from its glory. I wrote to him as an aspiring Hero who diverts his depression into doing things that keeps him motivated and preoccupied. He channels a cold deadpan similar Ao Haru Ride's Mabuchi Kou, the character that Rin is based on, though jaded of affairs that he sees of no relevance, Rin reluctantly accepts pleas of people to get the job done so that they won't annoy him. Rin is a character whose reluctant to open up to people because he's afraid of losing them someday, his overthinking of the notion causes him to act the way he is: jaded, cold, distant, and condescending. Analogous to the canon's, Kacchan, Rin's apathetic remarks causes people to think bad about him, he's jaded unless something threatens his comfort zone, pushing him to do things and he does so, exceedingly. He keeps a bittersweet mechanism to keep people from prying over his past yet in his own volition and drive to be a Hero, he slowly warms up to people, signs include of teasing them at random times. He's okay to talk to unless lacking motivation energies, Rin will be there to play along just like Hyouka's Oreki, whose traits I incorporated to Rin. Characterization overall, I want Rin to slowly overcome his depression and see things more positively, likewise, I wanna a play a Kuudere who isn't a cold hardass to his peers while still playing the trope straight. As such, Rin is a friendlier version of the archetype that I'm subverting, his condescending words while random is also played for stoic humor. To parallel Rin's Quirk Development with his character, concurrently, Rin's solution to his battles is hit-and-run. As he gets warmer to his peers, Rin will be more direct. That aside, I won't say much because I believe, it's better to show than tell.

Abilities & Talents

[sub]Quirk Type[/sub]
Emitter
[sub]Quirk Description[/sub]
Coldflare is a hybrid quirk from the quirk marriage of Rin's parents' respective Quirks: Freezing from his father and Cloud from his mother, giving Rin the ability to summon ice clouds through the process of freezing. By freezing the humidity around him, he alters the airflow in order to reincarnate ice clouds. When active, the ice clouds orbit behind him akin to balloons, he can send these cloud balloons as explosive cold gusts of wind against his opponents, rain ice crystal hails, create fog for cover; hit-and-run tactics and cast iridescent/prism clouds, where light pierces the thin layer of ice crystals within the icy clouds to cause rainbow signals, good for gathering lost teammates, distraction and trajectory information. Rin's Quirk is at peak performance during the cold season and humid areas, where humidity is high. He can also traverse great distances through freeze-surfing, which is his preferred method of fighting by running around his opponent's circle and utilize his offense. The weakness of his Quirk is the lack of humidity and cold space, Rin may not be like other Ice-users with frost weakness but he is reliant on the cold to be at peak performance. Another flaw is dehydration if Rin is dehydrated, the strength of his Quirk weakens.
[sub]Other Talents & Attributes[/sub]
• Rin doesn't like being in the childish spotlight that the millennials like, so he lets his stuff be in the shadows. Given his depression, his drive to be a Hero is what keeps him motivated, he wants people to be at ease so he tries his best to be motivated in spit of the impending laziness. He's also smart and just doesn't like showing off his talents and expertise and when he does, he makes smartass comments. People would often forget that this foulmouthed Potato is actually smart. • To get Rin's attention, his favorite food is potato-based, a shoutout to him as a resident of Kutchan. His peers dubbed the nickname: "Potato" for him, his jadedness is the result of his depression and things that disinterest him, he'll not care. He also creatively use potatoes to charge the batteries of his appliances. • When his comfort zone is opposed, he puts his foot forward to exceedingly do his best. In battles, Rin is not afraid of using pragmatic methods as long as he ends the fight quickly, his preference is weakened opponents. • Snow Sports are his favorite, it's his way of diverting depression away. • These are his theme songs, both in English and Japanese

Here is a redo of my OC.
