[indent] If someone’s personality could appear as effortless, that would describe Tyler Jane to a tee. She keeps her head held high at all times, exuding confidence and poise to all who notice her. With long slender legs, an athletic frame, copper hair and freckles, it’s hard for her not to stick out in a crowd, so she capitalizes on this through charming and subtly elegant mannerisms. Knowing that her physical appearance accounts for the majority of the attention she receives, Tyler takes great care in how she presents herself- channeling her effort into a calculated and specific aesthetic. [indent]The daughter of two busy and workaholic scientists, Tyler Jane fought for attention growing up. Her parents devoted their lives to science and poured every ounce of their time and dedication towards their research. Although they [i]said[/i] they loved her, they did everything in their power to prevent their work from being interrupted, which involved making sacrifices. They put Tyler in school as soon as they could, almost too young in fact. They enrolled Tyler in numerous dance classes and extracurriculars to occupy her schedule, allowing them to spend more time at the lab. They missed countless school events, milestones, and birthdays, all for science. It got so bad that the young redhead only saw her mom and dad for 10 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night before she went to sleep. 

As a result of her parents actions, the teen became completely self-sufficient- packing her own lunch, teaching herself how to function independently, and even doing grocery shopping as soon as she was old enough to drive. Tyler Jane was a separate entity from her parents. They failed to notice her, neglected her, and ignored her. 

When presented with an opportunity by their close friend Dr. Hagerty to volunteer their daughter for Project Untamed, they jumped at the opportunity to get the child off their hands. It seemed like the perfect out; the perfect plan. They would never have to worry about the burden of “raising” a child ever again! They could devote their entire lives to their research. And so, against her will, her parents signed the papers and Tyler Jane was sent away.[/indent]

[indent]Leo Brooks can be a real asshole- there’s no reason to beat around the bush when it’s the truth! Dominance seeping from his pores, the 18 year old carries himself with the bravado of someone twice his age and the swagger of someone who [i]knows[/i] he’s the alpha male. If “big dick energy” had a poster child, it would be Leo. He’s bossy by nature and always makes sure he gets his way. The ultimate goal is for him to come out on top, and he will do whatever it takes to get there, even if it means controlling those around him like pawns or stepping on someone else’s toes.

You always know where you stand with Leo, as the word subtle is not in his vocabulary. It’s clear as day if he likes you or not as well as if you’re worth his time. And if he likes you, consider yourself lucky! He only surrounds himself with those he feels match his integrity and drive (but not too much, he doesn’t want to have to compete for the top spot on the totem pole). He looks out for his friends like he’d look out for family; protective and territorial, you know you’ll be alright if you’re on his side. But if you say something wrong to him or look at him and his friends the wrong way, you’ll wish you didn’t. He has a hot temper and will easily get aggressive, not afraid of getting physical in order to get his point across. 

A smooth talker, Leo always seems to know what to say and how to say it, especially when it comes to his love life and romantic endeavors. He’s known to be quite the ladies man (read: fuck boy) and has definitely made his way around the majority of campus in the short time he’s been there... if you know what I mean. And much of an asshole as he is, well, he knows he’s attractive and certainly knows that others think so as well.

[indent]Leo’s deepest fear, although he doesn’t show it, is losing the people that he loves. He’s incredibly protective by nature of those he cares about, but also this is a real human fear that has stuck with him throughout his whole life, even post memory loss.[/indent]

[indent]Leo Brooks wasn’t always a problem child. He began life with a loving mother and younger sister, and although they didn’t have much money, they made the best of a bad situation. Yes, they may have all shared one bed in a small studio apartment, and yes, they may have not had heat and electricity some months, but they were happy because they had each other. However, relatives believed this living situation was not well suited for two young children, and they reported his mother to the authorities. Forcibly removed from his home at the age of 5, Leo and his sister were placed in the foster care system and subsequently separated. For years, he prayed that his mom would come and find him; come and rescue him. But, she never did. The trauma that Leo experienced from being taken away, as well as being split up from the only other family he had, was immense and would influence the trajectory of his life. 

The young boy became reckless, rebellious, and inconsolable, bouncing from foster home to foster home as a result of his behavior. In some homes, Leo would resort to violent actions like throwing glass objects, slamming doors until they came off their hinges, and physically pushing or punching his foster siblings and parents. In other homes, he would break rules and attempt to sneak out or run away. He thought the more homes he would be rejected from, the more likely they would be to return him to his mother. But unfortunately, the opposite was the case. The vicious cycle continued and by the age of 17, Leo had been through 10 foster homes. Each one cited him as a nuisance, a rebel, and a difficult child who could not be reached. According to them, he was impossible. 

A mere 4 days before he turned 18, hours away from being released from the foster care system as a legal adult, Leo’s final set of foster parents and case worker were approached by Dr. Hagerty and Dr. Wayman. They had heard of the misguided and problematic child and offered up a solution for all parties involved. The doctors explained the psychological and health consequences of frequent changes in placement for foster care children, which included negative developmental trajectories and poor adult outcomes, and recommended that Leo be sent to a special program in order to mitigate those risks. Thinking that this was the best course of action for him, his foster parents and case worker obliged, stripping Leo of his freedom just as he was about to grasp it. Project Untamed wasn't his "saving grace"... it was his doom.
