She doesn't have any trouble talking to random people, whatever it is a professor, classmate, freshmen, or just a random person on the street. She is quite charming in this behavior. She is observative and remembers small details people do in their daily life, which makes them feel important and closer to her. Mostly, some might find it a little disturbing. She likes to know everything that is happening around, and talking to people helps her with that. However, even though she knows a lot of people, she doesn't have many friends, not in her consideration anyway. And also from these, she considers friends, she doesn't have many close ones. She is secretive, but that also is a double-edged weapon, in this case. People like to share their secret with her because they can trust she will keep them. She never spills anything, just sometimes she uses the knowledge for her needs, but tries not to hurt anybody by it. But she also doesn't tell her own secrets to anyone. She doesn't like to discuss her feelings. Maybe that is why her friend circle is so small. People usually know what she does or likes in general, but doesn't know many little details about her. Maia is quite comfortable with herself. She likes to improve in many aspects, finds a lot of hobbies she does. But as a part of her secretive nature, she rarely shows her work to anyone. She values her alone time when she can unleash her creativity and have fun. Not that she doesn't know how to have fun with others, usually she can't relax as much in the company, she has to have a special mood for that. Maia doesn't like being wrong or losing, and rarely she would fiercely fight for her feelings. Although she can be passionate when it comes to something she cares about. In general, she rather shut up in an uncomfortable confrontation. She doesn't like to be commanded, she would do as she pleases. Of course, she knows some things have to be done, such as studying and so on, but she won't do anything she doesn't feel like to do, just because someone said so. But it all can change just by changing the approach. Unless she has "gut feeling" about the person to be just bad or something, then she shut off and refuse to communicate with that person. Her intuition is fairly good, but she doesn't listen to it much as yet. If she is asked, she wouldn't know what to say. Her biggest fear is about being restrained in general. Not to have her free will or free time, to do what she want's or like. Being commanded and treated like a circus attraction. Other than that, she is afraid of people laughing at her for some of her secrets, work, or hobbies. Having to explain and defend her feelings. Or simply bugs, she hates bugs. It doesn't matter if it is a wasp, a spider, or a butterfly, she finds them quite disgusting. Especially when they are near her.

Maia was born and raised in a small family house in Bountiful, Utah. She lived only with her two parents. Her mother was Asian, with Korean roots, her father was an American. They were quite a happy family. Everything was ordinary. Maia was the only child of her parents. Her mother didn't get well with her family. She never talked about them, and they never visited. Maia stopped asking after a while. Even for a little girl, it was obvious, her mother didn't want to tell her, nor does her father. He, on the other hand, had a family. He had parents, Maia's grandparents, and sister. For a long time, Maia's life was ordinary and straightforward. She had two loving parents, two loving grandparents, one aunt, nobody liked, and the normal life of a teenager. She goes to school, had some friends, some hobbies, always warm food for dinner and a nice room for herself. Her parents trusted her, and she trusted them. They lived in a smaller house, but it was sufficient. The family wasn't wealthy, nor were they poor. When Maia was 10, her grandparents died of old age. She attended the funeral, together with her parents. After that, her aunt turned even worse than she was before, and Maia's father stopped talking to her, so did his family. When Maia turned 15, his parents planned a vacation. It was a trip to Florida, which Maia knew they wanted to go on a honeymoon, but couldn't afford it at that time. She wasn't thrilled about the idea. As a pubertal teenager, she didn't want to leave behind her summer at home, everything she had planned and go to some Florida, with her parents... In the end, she proposed she would look after the house while they go and make it their honeymoon. Her parents were against at first, but her mother did convince her father it is an absolutely brilliant idea. They get to spend time together, just the two of them, the house will be taken care of, Maia would be happy, they will even save some money over it as there will go only two and not three people. And so they went through it. It was then when Maia's life fell apart. The week without parents was amazing. She could do whatever she wanted whenever she wanted to. She could go to sleep late and wake up at noon. Go wherever she pleases. Her parents still called her every day to check on her. When they were returning, their flight had an accident. The motors failed, and the airplane fell, killing everyone in it, including Maia's parents. She was heartbroken and orphaned. She blamed herself for her parent's death. If she didn't tell them to go, they would be alive, or they would all die together. The only relative she had was her aunt, who her family stopped talking to. As the social services came for them, she found out, her aunt took her in. The first few months living with her aunt were pretty much okay. Maia was grieving, and so was her aunt, or it looked like that at least. Her aunt, Cathy, moved into Maia's house to took care of her. After half a year, their relationship changed. Cathy started to be bossier and bossier, and less cared about Maia's well being. Maia was angry with it, she didn't like the way her aunt was acting, nor how she had to do everything around the house, and if she ever wanted something, she has to get her own money for it. One day Cathy told Maia, she is going to San Agustin Academy in New Mexico. No talk about it, no preparation. Just like that. But Maia was happy to go. She would live in dorms without her aunt. It would undoubtedly be better. Little did she know why her aunt sends it to her, and about the money she got from it.

My favorite at this moment would be a Big Tasty from McDonald's! :D
