While the family were originally the Second Owners of the city, holding that title for nearly a millennium, they had lost it as punishment from the Association for nearly exposing Magecraft (an accidental byproduct of a ritual which required 33 children and 7 pandas). This also resulted in the execution of the Head, and several of his children, leaving only the child with the worst potential as a magus. Of course, the family was already on decline before that. Their crest had started to decay, heads were having worse circuits, and they even began struggling in securing proper marriages. The removal of their position as Second Owners was an important blow, their downfall was surely fated. What it really did was accelerate the family’s fall, as all political power they had once held was now rapidly approaching They were desperate with few options. If their next child wasn’t special in some fantastical way, the family would not survive. The hole they were in didn’t require just “someone with circuits,” which forced them to make a gamble. Using the last of their political clout, as well as their funds, the family were granted the Catacombs of Rome for a single ritual, assuming they caused no damage to the holy people present. The ritual was held the day of Kamila’s conception. It went without error, so surely this child would lead the family into a rebirth. Kamila was born with abysmal circuits and nothing unique about her. In all senses, she was a complete and total failure. The daughter was near useless and the family was in both financial and political debt over her. A failed gamble is all it really was, but to Kamila’s family, it was the greatest of losses. Once more, the family’s fall was even more accelerated. Truly, there was no logical outcome for the family outside of suicide. Thus, that was the conclusion to their story. Kamila and her grandfather were the only remaining members. He didn’t follow with the rest of the family, seeing as he had accepted the family’s fall before even his son was born. So, out of either amusement or pity, the grandfather took in Kamila. He raised her as a magus, even though the family’s crest was destroyed in the death of Kamila’s father. For the first 7 years of her life, Kamila lived like a normal magus child. Unfortunately, the family’s karmic backlash wasn’t enough, resulting in an early demise for her grandfather. Now, she was truly alone in the world. All of her kin had gone extinct, no magus family searching for an heir would take her in, and even the weirdos wanted nothing to do with a child of a cursed family. Seeing as nobody wanted her, and she was still a child, the girl was placed in an orphanage in a nearby village Kamila spent a year there. Everything was normal, until yet another tragedy occurred around the girl. A Dead Apostle had taken refuge in town, and one night, her orphanage was to be their buffet. Flesh was torn, muscles were exposed, bones were shattered and pointing in directions the young girl had thought impossible. Soon enough, after watching her fellow orphans murdered, Kamila was next on the monster’s plate. The girl fought with what she could, but there was no way she could realistically fight such a thing, and suffered fairly bad injuries, including a horrific blow to the head. The Dead Apostle continued to poke and prod the girl until he was bored. All that was left was for him to take a bite and end her suffering. Until the monster had its body cut in twine by a scythe. It was only as Kamila began to lose consciousness that she finally let herself mourn her own existence. Kamila spent several months recovering, but after that, was placed in another orphanage, though this one ran by the Church. It was this time in the hospital that would morph Kamila into something new. After waking up in the hospital, Kamila had seemingly gained her Pure Eyes. Of course, she didn’t realize this, and simply ranted at the doctors about strange halos appearing on everyone’s head. Quickly, she picked up that others couldn’t see what she was seeing. It took her until the end of her stay to realize what exactly the eyes did. The ability to gauge how close everyone was to death destroyed her. Kamila was surely no longer Kamila, at least conceptually, after that day. Her stay at the new orphanage was short lived, as after a few months, she was pulled out by the man who had saved her. He had revealed himself as a Knight Captain of the Order of the Golden Fleece, and he promised he would be the one to care for her. He had no idea about her eyes, rather, he was doing this in an attempt to spite the Foster Mother because of a falling out that occured. They got into a theological debate surrounding the Book of Songs, and it shall be left at that. Of course, upon learning about Kamila’s history, as well as her eyes, he was determined to properly raise her. The first thing he did was a ritual to absolve her of her family’s sins, which culminated in the changing of her name. Whoever Kamila was in the past was erased, wiped away in the name of the LORD. From now on she was Kamila, a good girl of faith who was a future knight. Now, the Order of the Golden Fleece is an interesting one. While they still serve as Knights, those who fight against the greatest of evils, they also act as an intermediary of sorts. As an Order founded around the Occult, often under the command of Magi, and one whose very premise is inherently linked to Alchemy and the Philosopher’s Stone, the Order of the Golden Fleece has the closest relationship with the Association. Of course, they still have problems with the Association, and take the side of the Church in every circumstance, but all things considered, they’re on decent enough terms. In matters that require cooperation, the Order is called in to handle terms, conditions, and agreements. They’re also the branch of the Church that often deals with dangerous magical items, phantasmal entities, and things of that nature. This has led to them being considered Heretics by many within the Church, though they don’t seem to mind much. Kamila spent the rest of her childhood training. As her body was still primed by basic magus training, it was not that difficult for Kamila to adapt to the training. It was more physical than magus training, but the pain was roughly the same in the end. Finally, at the age of 15, she would be allowed to partake in a vampire hunt. There was a powerful Dead Apostle found in the Philippines, a survivor of the tragedy which occurred there several decades earlier. Ultimately, it would be Kamila and the Captain that would corner and defeat this Dead Apostle. Kamila was rewarded with steak for her efforts. Kamila continued her work as a Knight, her work as an arbiter, and her training. By the time she was 25, she had already gained a reputation among those in the Church and the Clock Tower, though her reputation was vastly different between the two. Within the Church, she was seen as a “hardass, a highly effective and vicious killer, but ultimately still a heretic.” Within the Clock Tower, she was seen as “fairly stable, normal, not insane.” It was only last year that she had become the Captain of her Order. Kamila and the Captain were tasked to kill a Dead Apostle. An error on Kamila’s part, her missing the Dead Apostle’s neck, resulted in the death of the Captain. To make the situation even worse for Kamila, the Dead Apostle managed to escape. No only did she fail to save her Captain, but the monster would continue to feast on humanity. She simply figured that she was still the Cursed Child she was before. Once her mourning was complete, she took the mantle of Captain. There was little to no opposition, as most believed she was being raised for that role anyway. She has done no actual official work as Captain, as all of her time has been spent hunting down the Dead Apostle who had escaped her. Hearing about this ritual in Las Vegas, Kamila believed that this would be a potential scenario for a Dead Apostle to appear. Oh, and even if it didn’t, she could have her wish of harmony granted. Being so close to the world of Magi, as well as completely submerged in the world of the Church, has led to Kamila coming up with her own views. She believes modern magi have moved too far away from God. Magi in the Renaissance worked very closely with the idea of God, which is ultimately what Kamila would like to see a return to. Once this is achieved, she believes that Magi and the Church don’t truly need to be enemies, and can focus on destroying the real evils in the world. Basically, she finds the fighting between the Church and the Association unneeded, and wants to bring harmony between the two factions. Magecraft: Sacraments: The sole mystery taught freely by the Church. While the Magecraft used by the Association tends to focus on physical interference, the Sacraments used by the Church are spiritual by nature. The key sacrament is the Baptism Rite, something that Kamila is fairly well trained in. Upon the completion of the Rite, all spiritual bodies in the area are compelled to sublimate, and return where they belong. Her skill in it can be said to be greater than Kirei Kotomine. Magic Basics: The bare basics of what you would teach a Magus, something on the level of a literal child. A remnant from her brief few years as a magus. As a good member of the Church, she doesn’t make use of any of her skills here. Interestingly enough, her actual knowledge of Magic Theory is very good. If she was actually raised as a magus, she would have surely been a high ranked one. Special Abilities: Pure Eyes of Death Observation: A psychic ability which allows the observer to gauge how close someone is to death. Different from a Mystic Eye which allows the owner to interact with the world directly, a Pure Eye only allows someone to see something. An inborn ability of Kamila’s, probably manifested as a result of her family's sacrifices. It allows Kamila to get a gauge on how close someone is from death, acting in a manner similar to Clairvoyance. For her, it manifests as halos above the head of every organism. While it starts off bright and shining, the more it dims, the closer an individual is to their death. Self Hypnosis: A skill originally learned by Kamila during her early magi studies, but was ultimately repurposed for her Vampire hunting. It is associated with the pain of Kamila tearing out pieces of her hair, thus, it can only be achieved via that method. Once Kamila has entered this state, the limits placed upon a human body are removed, as well as increase the ability of the brain to process what is around it. Kamila also gains the ability to better understand the flow of battle. Mystic Codes Atropos: The ultimate weapon of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Atropos is a scythe which cuts off the excess thread of life. Everything created has a certain “allotment” they are given. One only has so much life before it is to be reaped. It is a predetermined rule yet, there are those who try to break the cycle of life and death. Those who preverse the beauty of life, and disregard the bliss of death. To those who attempt to exist beyond their time, Atropos exists to cull them. Atropos is a conceptual weapon which exists to kill those who remain beyond their time. vampires, zombies, and ghosts are entities which fall under this category. They exist as not only an affront to God, but an affront to nature in general. Passively, it ensures the owner of the Scythe a “natural” death. Any sort of concept that would “enforce” death is completely nullified against the wielder’s body. Now, of course, cutting off her head would still kill her, as it would kill anyone. Within the handle of the scythe is a large assortment of different saint bones, with scriptures acting as padding. It is truly a holy weapon of the highest order, a perfect fit for a Knight Captain. Considering the naming scheme, the weapon was likely created with the concept of Moirai in mind. It is fitting that it eventually became a relic of the Order of the Golden Fleece

Shroud of Saint Cyprian: A cloth which was once used to wrap the remnants of Saint Cyprian. While worn, it acts as a container to the “life” which is placed within it. The shroud acts to ensure no signs of life are filtered out through it. This applies to things such as mana expenditure, as well as a Master’s presence. As one’s presence is effectively contained, it hides the occupant within it from scrying effects, or anything that searches for “lifeforce.” Also allows Kamila to play dead really well. The Golden Fleece: The fleece of the ram, Chrysomallos, which served as the goal of the Argonauts. Whether the fleece possessed by The Order is the original or not is unknown (it isn’t), but even if it is a copy, it is still supremely old. There are many legends for the power of the Golden Fleece, with a litany of different interpretations. However, in the hands of Kamila, it simply acts as a fleece which heals those who snuggle up to it. It heals the snuggler based on the image presented on the soul. Non-Magical Abilities and Items: Kamila’s physical strength is befitting that of a Knight Captain, placing her on a level similar to the Captain of The Vestal Shield Knights. Her combat style is an offshoot of the halberd combat styles used by the Church. Kamila is a gifted pianist, but she does little with it. Knows pi to 500 digits. An encyclopedia on World Folklore A book on sloth deaths. Rohypnol (with mystery). A stuffed bird which is missing a wing. It is named “Cross.” A purple Bugatti Veyron with the license plate “JCGOTU.” A gift given to her by another member of the Church. She lacks the clearance to legally drive in the US, but she tries her best. Access to the Papal Funds via credit cards and some cash.
