His baby brown curls, piercing hazel eyes, brilliant smile, and way with words can only be described as charming. Deceptively charming. Disarmingly charming. Sell you sand in a desert and leave you feeling happy you did business even though you’re broke now charming. Wes had a genuine and innocent version of this charm before the Project, but now… it’s been tainted. Quick wit and subtle manipulation has been added to his forte, packing a poisonous punch for those who fall for his seemingly sweet and affectionate exterior. His position in the animal kingdom is to survive by any means necessary. Be fast, be clever, be sneaky and, most importantly, befriend the bigger guys (and gals). Wes is now a master of chaos — a small time pilferer, a troublemaker, a gossip, a flirt, a rabble rouser. And he can be all of these things with the help of friends in higher places keeping him safe while he gets everything that he wants out of the deal, giving little or next to nothing in return. Affection and constant companionship? Sure, he gives that, but even he can’t tell which of his feelings are real and which are lies to justify some end. That said, his manipulations are subtle, he wouldn’t be good in his role if people noticed what a piece of shit he was being. To everyone else, he’s one of those everybody’s buddy kind of people, with his biggest flaw being that he is a bit needy… maybe even clingy at times. An eventual goal is also to use his law knowledge to get into politics. In the animal world, this manifests as a fear of other people discovering and calling him out on his machiavellian scheming, and then hating him for it… leaving him defenseless and alone.

[sub]
History Pre-Memory Loss
[/sub]
Wesley is one of the characters that is probably better off having no memory of what life before the Project was like. He was raised by a single father, as his mother passed away from complications during childbirth. The loss of his wife had a devastating impact on Dr. Frederick Slater, leaving him mournful and alone and, in time, cold and resentful. Christmas was not celebrated in the Slater household, Wes was lucky to get a cake and a gift on his birthday. Instead, it was a day of remembrance for the mother that he never got to meet. An unspoken piece of Fred’s mind nagged and blamed his son for the loss of his lover all those years ago. Over time, this mentality grew a voice, and Fred became much more like a tyrant than a father to Wes. Wesley had a strict schedule, a long list of chores, and was scolded if he dared to address his father as anything other than “Doctor”. Living with this abuse caused Wesley to become a pretty quiet and reserved teenager, but even then, teens are free to explore themselves within the walls of their highschool. Wes’ explorations mostly involved his sexuality, and that, for the most part, he was quite male-leaning. He kept this a deep, dark secret from his father for most of his high school career, because his gut instincts told him this would not be tolerated. His instincts were right, as when Dr. Slater discovered some incriminating conversations on his phone and internet browsing history, it was like he had been found guilty of murder. Wesley was convinced he would soon be homeless, disowned, and abandoned at age seventeen. Instead… Dr. Slater just grew quiet. He continued life as if his son did not exist, ignoring him, all the while he was plotting what to do to fix him. Half-way into a glass of scotch, it hit him… his work with Project Untamed! Dr. Slater wasn’t one of the head decision makers for the Project, but he had close working relations with Dr. Wayman and Dr. Hagerty. The very next day he volunteered his son as a test subject, requesting that he be assigned a predator to “help man him up”. The doctors agreed, although Fred is less than pleased with the predator that they assigned Wesley. A polecat? A glorified weasel just a few evolutionary steps from a household pet ferret... This was clearly revenge from him having his name come first on their postdoctoral research they published together. That said, Fred did not intervene, and instead hopes that something positive will come of this experiment. If not, Wes will be 18 by the end of it, and then he will no longer be any of his concern.

[sub]
Extra Information
[/sub]
French fries.
