everything eventually crumbles to sand + death to symbolize rot (doodle god logic on that one) it is a being of death (an elemental) and you gave me no explenation so i assumed death or a death-tree element
It's not a death creature, as I said. However, I have no way of telling how close it is to the element it's using to your defense, as I don't know how your combinations work. You'd have to sketch out a full tree-map for all your combinations for this system to work. I'm going to say that you can cancel out attacks of elements you're using, but you have to guess their element, and you can only use one element at a time. The opposites thing is going to be nearly impossible to do. I mean, what's the opposite of lava? Or the opposite of time? There's all kinds of stuff that has no clear opposite. You're going to have to state clearly what element you're using in your posts, because else combat is going to be annoyingly complex. The attacker judges how close the attack is to your defense, and an amount is negated depending on that. Example: Your defense is fire, and a demon is using demonic flames. It's mostly negated, but some gets through. However, if you use the element of demonic energy (I'd think fire+darkness+life) it's completely negated. Do you agree, or are we going to have to change things?
