Eric gasped, caught off guard for a moment. But, he kissed him back. He was feeling happy again. 



Margaret sighed. She was unhappy. She had WANTED to marry him, and now he was calling it off, she thought. She was disappointed, angry, sad, and hurt. She was also refusing to voice any of it out loud. She did not tell him something else: her father had a way of finding out things like that. He would make good on his threat and cast Arthur aside like he was nothing.
