Tanegashima Wakako

Sapporo, Japan Ishin Academy, Auditorium. April 7th
Unfortunately, Osamu did not end up discussing himself at all that great a length. Worse yet, he was about to point out who her mother was. Wakako knew this was bound to happen eventually; one could not be the daughter of a famous hero without being recognised. She would just politely admit to it and hope to shift the conversation onto a more pleasant topic before they had to waste time discussing Sanae Tanegashima at any great length. However, before Wakako had the chance to say a word, she watched as some ball-like object struck Osamu in the back of the neck. She was a little startled by the suddenness of it all. She too looked around as Osamu sought out his assailant, but to no avail. At least Osamu seemed to be fine. In fact, from the look on his face, this had barely impacted on him at all. She admired someone that was capable of being so nonchalant in the face of negative attention. If it had happened to Wakako, she would be fretting over whether someone had genuinely meant her ill will right now. "Oh my goodness, are you alright?" She asked, but mostly out of politeness. She could tell he was fine, and there didn't appear to be any damage to his neck. "Golly, to think someone would be so crude at a time like this!" Wakako's first inclination was to assume this person had simply acted out of wanton spite. After all, she had only just met Osamu, and he seemed perfectly polite. She couldn't fathom a single good reason why anyone would feel entitled to throw things at him, even if it didn't hurt him in any meaningful capacity. It was probably just some cad who enjoyed hurting people's feelings, like so many she had the displeasure of meeting during her school years. It would not be long before the principal beckoned for everyone to be silent, and Wakako had no intention of disobeying such a simple request from the principal of all people. As the principal launched into his introductory spiel, Wakako couldn't help but feel apprehensive. It was about what she expected; "do better", "no one will hold your hand", "grueling and unforgiving". All words and phrases that she heard from her mother on a regular basis. It confirmed much of what she worried about, that this school was out to break her in and turn her into an efficient automaton set on achieving "results". None of this sounded appealing. But she had long since resolved to get her stint at this school over and done with. She would get results alright, but she intended to come out the other side her own person still. Not a cold, harsh person obsessed with effectiveness, but a good, warm hero that encouraged people rather than sneering down on them. She wanted to be All Might, not the Warship hero. When the speech came to it's end, they were beckoned by one of their seniors to follow as a class. "Guess we better get going, huh?" Wakako said to Osamu before leaving her seat to join the others. Whatever awaited her, she would have to see.
[@Etranger]
