Ferdinand is a Melizean man of Mestizo background. His father was a commercial airline pilot of Spanish descent and his mother was a nurse of African descent. He spent his formative years with his doting mother while he rarely ever got to see his father. Nevertheless they all lived in comparative comfort as airline pilots are well paid. It was only in his teens when Ferdinand started to show the first indications of pride for his country. 
He first joined the Melizea Army and worked his way up to Captain. For the next 5 years he gained veterancy eventually becoming one of the countries “Jaguar Commandos”, elite Commandos capable of using many types of terrain. His regular duties included ferrying diplomats and politicians all over Melizea, eventually gaining a few friends in high places. 
It was during that time Ferdinand saw the most career advancement due to his extraordinary sense of duty and that he kept good relationships with everyone. He was known for his skill for diplomacy and multicultural and multidisciplinary approach.
