A Flower in Bloom (Part 2)

Shion ignored the other entities in the room in favor of a nearby book. Strangely, she didn't recognize the characters on it, and wasn't able to open it. Renamon, on the other hand, found herself drawn to Shion by virtue of her being the only human to not seem to recognize one of the digimon. They were in the same boat, so to speak. "H-" she began before being cut off. "01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111." These words pierced the air from near the anomaly the humans entered from as Wisemon appeared. It continued speaking, cutting off Shion's attempt to respond. When it finished, Renamon continued speaking to Shion. "Ten minutes, huh?" It was at these words that Shion noticed Renamon. "Oh, hi." She looked around the room at the others. They all seemed to have paired up with one of these creatures, recognizing them. "Excuse me, but do you know if another human is coming?" "Doubtful. We were the only ones in the classroom other than Mr. Fujo, and he's out cold." Renamon blanched. If that was the case, then... "I see. I don't suppose you happen to recognize me, then? I'm afraid that I don't recognize you, but perhaps that's one sided." After all, the young girl she almost killed didn't have red in her hair like this one. "Sorry, but no dice. I don't recognize you either, and I've got a near perfect memory to draw from." "I see. My apologies. It seems we're the only ones without..." Wait a moment. "Near perfect?" "Eh. Supposedly I fell and nearly died when I was younger, but I don't remember it." Renamon's eyes widened. This girl... could she actually be...? "You... fell? Do you mean from a high place, or... do you mean down stairs?" Shion's eyebrow shot up. "Yeah, how'd you know it was stairs?" "I think... I was the one to trip you. I was just a Fresh digimon when suddenly I found myself in a large area with many humans. A larger digimon began chasing me, and while it wasn't particularly strong or dangerous, since I was still Fresh nearly everything was stronger and dangerous for me. I wound up running right in front of a young girl and she tripped on me. I probably would've died if she hadn't caught me and protected me during the fall. I owe that girl my life, and a debt for nearly getting her killed. I never even learned her name because she was barely conscious." Renamon admitted, somewhat cautiously. She didn't want to be tricked by a human other than that girl into thinking they were her. "Well, I don't know about that, but did you see a small komainu statue at the bottom of the stairs? My parents claim there was one sitting by me when they found me." Renamon's eyes lit up and she lunged for Shion, grabbing her into a hug. "It is you!" She let go and took a step back. "The chances of everyone recognizing a human and vice versa except us, and us not having some connection is slim. But if you had a komainu statue next to you, then I know it was you." "Really? You saw one?" "I was one! In my Fresh form, I'm able to transform into objects about the same size as myself. I turned into a statue in order to not get attacked while I talked and tried to keep you conscious. I'm so glad I was able to meet you again!" Renamon turned to look at Wisemon. "Even if we might be killed soon. Oh! What's your name? I'm Renamon." "Shion. It's nice to meet you, Renamon."
Having learned that they in fact did have a deeper connection as everyone else seemed to, Shion and Renamon turned towards Wisemon. "... I bet I can take him." "No you can't, he's a Perfect level digimon. It would take all of us here to take down an Adult, and it would take all of us in our own Adult forms to take down a Perfect without major casualties." "I don't know what that means, but I have scissors. Does that help?" "No, not really. Our best bet would be to find what it's looking for or to run." With that, Renamon turned and addressed the remaining digimon and humans. "What are we going to do? The way I see it, we can either split up and look for this book it wants, or split up and run. Or... if we're feeling suicidal, we can try to fight." She looked over the other digimon. Pawnchessmon. BlackAgumon. Sistermon. Impmon. Armadimon. Tinkermon. And of course herself, a Renamon. She quickly calculated in her head. "I say we split into a fighting group and a searching group, in case we can't find it in time. The fighting group can try to buy the searching group some more time. But then we have no way of winning. Whereas if we all run, he might not be able to catch all of us. But that would be sacrificing those of us who would have been in the fighting group, seeing as the group criteria is based on speed. Any other plans?" Shion paused a moment. "I'm not entirely convinced that this guy knows what maceration is, either." Renamon turned to stare at Shion. "That... that's not relevant right now?"
