Rush made his reputation as a reliable Bounty Hunter who is skilled in breach and clear operations as well as frontline combat assaults and CQC. Instead of sneaking through the backdoor or patiently waiting across the street for a target, Rush would much rather kick in the front door to shoot first and ask questions later. Rush is a bit of a daredevil and there's nothing he won't try once. This can lead him to become pretty reckless at times but his skill and unwavering resolve drags him through most of them. Advertising himself as a one-man wrecking crew, he feels most comfortable when in a fight. For him the thrill of combat is addictive and hey, if you love it enough then why not get paid for it? However, that is not his only addiction. A chemical substance known as 'Stim' is used as a new kind of adrenaline and an upper drug in the Glitter world is widespread used on Mars. However, there is a black market version known as Stim-X. There was a story of ancient warriors who would eat a sacred plant to make them fearless and powerful before storming the battlefield with a blood-curdling rage. Rush has developed a dependency on Stim-X and needs it just to get by. While he uses it for combat, he feels truly unstoppable. The adrenaline on crack courses through his veins increasing his speed, strength and reaction speed when injected. Rush has used it too often and now has to give himself smaller regular doses lest his body begins to shut down with illness and his body becomes weak. A weak body and mind is no way for a bounty hunter to get by. [SUB]D A Y S - G O N E[/SUB]
Rush's love of fighting wasn't just a decision on the spot. Growing up in a slum in the middle of nowhere, it was an environment where the strong ruled. You either learnt to fight or be prepared to hand over everything you got. However, back then, it was an environment that Marcus Shaw thrived upon. While he didn't have a father to show him the right way, he quickly found role models in the thugs and crooks of his slum. With his Mother usually too drunk to care or notice, Marcus was quickly gaining himself a reputation as he was growing up. From doing simple runs at about 12 years old to being an enforcer for the One-Eyed Jacks at only 18. His strength became quickly apparent when roughing up people who owed money or in just plain ol' brawls. It wasn't long until the Boss, "Bones" Haas saw it fit to refine that raw criminal talent... Well, as much as a two-bit gangster could. However, it wasn't until Marcus had his first run in with a Bounty Hunter that he finally found his calling. Charlie "Wolf" Grays was a prominent bounty hunter who was contracted to take down Bones. It was simple work for the Hunter, but Marcus caught his eye. Despite thinking nothing of the young punk at first, he was impressed with the kid's drive. Even while beaten and bloody, he was still hobbling back to his feet for another round. This was a fight that excited Marcus and Wolf thought he could channel that energy. After calming down, the Hunter offered to take Marcus under his wing which he accepted at the tip of the hat. You were telling him that he could fight and take down bad people all day long AND get paid for it? It was a no brainer. Marcus put everything into it and it took two years for him to get as good as Wolf. However, that fiery attitude could not be simmered and he was still as reckless as he was back in the slums. THAT is not quite what earned him his nickname and callsign. Taking on another job with his 'Master', Marcus neglected to check his corners correctly in a building. He was blown away by a makeshift proximity explosive. The blast itself was weak but enough to send him flying and almost knocked him out. With the gunfight still raging, Wolf couldn't afford to just leave Marcus there. He resorted to using a syringe filled with Stim-X. This would be Marcus's first taste. The high octane chemical filled his veins and within seconds, Marcus jumped up from his prone state and surged forward with a mighty roar. Not even Charlie could keep up, and from that moment on Marcus became Rush. With money, a title and a growing accolade, Marcus quickly found himself experiencing the finer things. Glitter clubs and partying whenever he wasn't taking on a job (which was always fun), weapons and armour. Life couldn't have been better. However, he never felt like he could achieve as much without Stim-X. When he left the watch of Charlie, he found a supplier and began buying the drug... a lot. Over the years, Stim-X had pretty much become a staple in his artillery and even outside of jobs he'd find himself taking it. Flash forward to the age of 26, and Rush found himself in New Brazil. While it reminded him a little of home, he was there to look if there were any contracts going. Someone usually wants someone dead in these areas, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to top up on his Stim-X supply. However, everything got flipped after one sound... BOOM. [SUB]M E M O R I E S[/SUB]
"Bones" [DECEASED]- One of his earlier mentors. Rush respected his power and aspired to be like him a little... however, when he met his untimely end it didn't affect him too much. Despite being a bit of a role model, Bones was more of an employer. "Wolf" [ALIVE]- This is the man that he mostly owes his current life too. However, since leaving his tutelage, he hasn't had much contact with him if any at all. Rush sometimes wonders what Wolf would think of him now? Calixta Io [ALIVE]- Now Cali is a girl who knows how to party! After trying to get his hands on some more Stim-X, he ran into Cali who managed to save him from a scam. After purchasing some other 'treats' from her, they actually began to party together. Anytime there's trouble on a night out, it is most likely that Cali is never too far away. "Livewire" [ALIVE]- A fellow bounty hunter, they don't quite see eye to eye. Despite all those mechanical upgrades, Rush has always felt that Livewire doesn't see the fun in their profession quite like he does. They did take on a job together at one time, and despite butting heads over the methods, they still got it done. [SUB]P O W E R S[/SUB]
Power: Rush has the power of momentum manipulation. If he can get a good run, his body is capable of generating kinetic force at a rapid rate, able to knock away objects like metal drum barrels and people with ease. He can become a charging wrecking ball to anyone in his way, and the faster he goes, the bigger the impact. As well as this, he can lessen his momentum to almost nothing. Theoretically, he could jump off of a building and be absolutely fine or completely leave a crater. This also works for stuff coming towards him. Physical bullets and attacks could ricochet off of him. Limitation: While he can get powerful, outside of being shot out of a cannon, he probably wouldn't be able to break apart a blast door. (Not that he wouldn't try) As well as that, turning slows down his momentum and therefore the strength of his impact. He can only manipulate his own momentum, therefore while he could shrug off more bullets than most, it can be hard to keep up with full auto fire or multiple guns at once. While he can lessen manipulation alot, he cannot get rid of it so a fall high enough or enough bullets would absolutely kill him. Weaknesses: Rush is absolutely not invincible. Enough bullets could overwhelm his capabilities and he cannot control gravity itself so it must be taken into account. If he charges into something, he will still feel it to a lesser extent but this could lead to more injuries with the more crazier stuff he does. Plus, his reckless personality and lack of inhibitions (especially with Stim-X) means he can overdo it and find himself in sticky situations. He has to be moving for his power to work afterall so it's pretty useless in stealthier or more confined situations.
