Take that Shiketsu!” As Yoru, Haruhi's roommate, made her joke Aia couldn't help but stifle a friendly giggle. It was silly and dumb, but as far as she could tell she was just trying to break the ice. Aia smiled warmly as she waved her arms, the brisk air hitting her as she and the group began to walk through the paved pathways around the campus. Haruhi seemed friendly and bubbly, if a bit informal. Ishin had prided itself on people who knew formalities, but ever since the last headmaster left and Snowman took over in his stead six years ago things had started to change, or at least that’s what Aia had heard from her upperclassmen. After all, Ishin used to block all foreign applicant letters with a response letter containing a pamphlet for Yūei inside. Ishin’s culture was still rooted in Hokkaido and Japan, but it was trying to get an edge on Shiketsu and Yuei. Aia figured that was why someone so bubbly and dense was among the premier class for first years alongside a gaijin whom Aia wasn’t sure had been annoyed when the crowd generated or just anxious in her own way. “So, if it wasn’t obvious. Everything within the walls here at Ishin is pretty easy to walk to. When you start class for the first time tomorrow you should be able to get up from your dorms and to class pretty quickly. If you looked over there you can see both Chiheisen and Shinonome. Chiheisen is for girls and Shinonome is for not-girls. There is all sorts of other facilities, but you're welcome to come and go as you please as long as you do not skip class. Even with the new-ish headmaster, we're still pretty serious about school. Don't be late unless you want to go home.” Was tardiness still a red line for students? Aia wasn’t sure, but the school was a lot less draconian than it had been under the Sky Hero, Air Force Ukon, as a headmaster. But she was told to ‘instill the correct behavior in your kohai’. Whatever that was supposed to mean. She just hoped she was doing her job the best she could. She was still pretty nervous. She looked back down to the list, checking on the next names her eye could catch. “Sakurami Asuka! You’re with Mizuhana Yoshiba. And, uh, Amuro Namie is with Utsuya Hajo. That’d be the girls. I hope the cold weather isn’t bothering you guys. I knew a lot of people who weren’t fans in my first year. What are you looking forward to the most here at Ishin?”
