Torvin came across like a criminal and even a grouchy bastard but the truth was Torvin wasn't. The group looked rather green to him and while he was confident they could get the job done, he found himself wishing that they'd found some more seasoned people to accompany them. As Hawke spoke and asked for volunteers, Torvin grunted and smirked. "Don't all stand up at once" he said with a chuckle. Most volunteered to ride with Hawke but a handful of volunteers spoke up to join Torvin aboard the schooner. The dwarf smiled as Asante spoke up, followed by August and Karissa. Iyana had squeaked less than spoke but it made it obvious that she was interested in riding rather than sailing. He didn't blame them to be honest. While the schooner was likely fair in size, it wasn't exactly going to be spacious. Not to mention the fact they'd be stuck on a boat with the crew of the schooner whom no one knew personally. It wouldn't bother Torvin in the slightest as most knew that he was an easy enough individual to get along with so long as you minded yourself. The zitan approached him and began to sign. Like Hawke, Torvin knew a little bit of Zitan Sign but like Hawke it was only enough to get the gist of what it was trying to convey. Torvin took a moment as he got some of the signs confused but nodded once he felt he understood. "I know enough to get what you are trying to say. So long as it doesn't become frantic, we'll understand one another" he grunted. After a moment, August spoke up and asked a relevant question. How long till they departed? How quickly did they need to get there? Torvin motioned to Hawke who nodded. "We are departing in a few hours. Take this time to gather what you need for the journey. Stock up on water, Aquamarine Tears, food, essentials. We leave at the sound of the whistle with or without you so I suggest being present before the whistle sounds. As to the time frame, we need to get these supplies to the dig site in no less than a week. The trip there will take at least a week assuming we don't run into any major obstacles. Once we get to the dig site, we return to the Southern Barrier and return to Ruk where we will be paid" he said. Torvin snorted. Hawke glanced to the dwarf who spoke. "Hawke, we both know we are gonna run into something out there. We're escorting a schooner with valuable goods across the Dune Sea. I'll be shocked if we DON'T run into something" he said. Hawke scowled a little. The dwarf was right but the half-fae didn't exactly like that he was being so blunt. It didn't matter though. Hawke looked the group over before speaking once more. "You have 2 hours to do what you need to do. Gather your supplies, say your good-byes, and be at the gates before the whistle sounds" he said before nodding, letting them know they were dismissed. Torvin looked to the Zitan and grunted. "Assuming you don't need anything, I suggest we get aboard the schooner and get familiar with what we're defending....shiny?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. Asked wasn't quite the right term. His question mark was certainly there but it was more like he was telling Skahn, not asking the insectoid.
