Vani, lacking in the usual amount of honor that a Paladin had, nearly ran the old man through when he sunk his blades into the floor. That is, until the loud clap and rumbling started. Nearly losing his footing, Vani was left confused until the first chunk of the ceiling fell, staring in disbelief as he heard...muttering!? The old fool was still breathing, and COMPLAINING down there? "ROT IN WHATEVER HELLS SETTLE FOR YOU, OLD MAN!" Vani shouted, just as the rest of the building shook. ...Maybe, just maybe, calling him a toad wasn't the best of his ideas given the grave offense it apparently offered to the old psychopath. The entrance was falling apart, and, with the back door open, Vani's eyes would light up as he saw his way out, taking a gleeful step forward before hearing the slight, audible groan of the archer woman who had fallen under the control the necromancer's control. Vani's eyes went wide as he saw that she had become buried in rubble, and, with the lizard and high-elf having just left, the question of her fate was left in his hands. His mind raced at a million miles a second before he resolved himself. It was simple, really. Paladins saved people. Vani was a paladin. Maybe the worst paladin anyone could think of, but he was still a paladin in his head. Hurriedly bashing away the rubble atop the archer with his shielded arm, Vani would hurriedly dig her out while bits of stone debris rained down overhead, slamming into the back of his head as he grit his teeth. "Dammit, dammit, dammit...come on, come on, hold out a little bit longer. Lolan, and whatever gods are watching, give me just a minute more... Finally hefting the woman over his shoulder, Vani would be caked in dust as he narrowly avoided getting crushed thrice, and twice almost losing his balance as rubble slammed into the ground behind him. Huffing and puffing from exertion and fear, Vani would see a cluster of debris falling near the backdoor just as he exited, grinding his teeth together in frustration before he leapt for it, holding the elven archer in his arms as he flew face-first out of the door, shouting: "I'M NOT DYING TO ANY BUILDING OR MAN TODA-" before he skidded along the dirt, face taking the brunt of it as his mouth got hit with the distinct earthy taste of really, really freshly kicked up dirt. Lifting his head slowly, Vani would be quivering, eyes watering from all the dust. And fear. "AAAAAAAAAHAHAHA I'M ALIIIIIIIIIVE~! the paladin shouted, face covered in scrapes from his skidding, and his armor absolutely scuffed from the slide. The cloth bits of his armor were caked in dirt, his whole "shining armor" aesthetic gone with his near-death-experience. Holding the archer across his outstretched arms, Vani would slowly slip his arms out from under her to stand, dusting himself off. "...So..." he said, looking to the high elven magi, smiling a bit. "Thank you, for coming in when you did. Wasn't expecting such a beautiful savior today. Then again, I wasn't expecting to watch a Lizardman's back, either."
