Tanegashima Wakako

Sapporo, Japan Ishin Academy. April 7th
Wakako had thought she might have come across as the nervous type, but it seemed that Kana made her look confident by comparison. Wakako could have sworn the girl had shuffled to stand behind her, as though she were her shield. Commentary on her size aside, Wakako was quite fine to act as a shield for someone feeling shy. If she wasn't the big tall girl she was, she might have had a mind to hide herself at some point too. "Nice to meetcha too, Mutsuki-san!" She replied briefly Kana's greeting. There was something vaguely familiar about the name but Wakako couldn't place it. Besides, she knew better than anyone how annoying name recognition could be. As the tour continued, and Aia continued to read out the dorm placements, Wakako followed along quietly, not wishing to risk being a nuisance to her senpai. Besides, it didn't seem like Kana was particularly keen to start small talk either, so Wakako assumed she wouldn't feel put out by relative silence on her end. She had little opinion to render on any of the other pairings; Wakako knew none of these people, and she wasn't the type to judge too quickly at first glance. Not to mention if any of the pairings were to be bad news that would be none of Wakako's business, bar any drama spilling into the dorms. The last to be paired were the boys, including Osamu. She would say she hoped he wasn't paired with whoever threw something at him back in the gym, but the odds of that person not only being in their class but paired with Osamu of all people were surely infinitesimally small. When Aia released them all to go their own way, Wakako turned to Kana, who she had been making an effort to remain nearby this whole time. "So, Mutsuki-san, uh, penny for your thoughts?" As she was to be her roommate for the foreseeable future, it only made sense to try and build a rapport with her. The last thing she needed was to be all icy and awkward with the person she was sharing a room with. Worst case scenario she might discover they didn't make a very good pair either way, but the only way she could find that out was by trying and seeing how it went.
[@Mcmolly]
