She’s calm and collected most of the time, able to control her anger rather well - though she is quick to show contempt if someone displeases her. There might have been a time when Ava smiled more, but the many long years of her life as a vampire have weighed heavily on her. Despite her youthful appearance, her aura betrays this disguise, displaying openly her weariness and indifference towards life. She had enjoyed her life as a human, and consequently, it took decades before Ava was able to come to terms with what she had become. Underneath, Ava continues to harbor a twisted sense of resentment for the evil nature of vampires, which surfaces in Ava’s repulsion of vampire-kind, though she does not always openly express it. Regardless of the centuries that have gone by, Ava continues to struggle between her two identities as human and monster. In her life as a human, Ava was raised with strict values and morals, influenced by the church and her status as a noblewoman. These teachings had imbued in her a stubborn pride, and a set of beliefs that were to be followed in order to be a virtuous and dignified woman. Becoming a vampire betrayed these values - she was revolted with her inability to control her thirst, and the violence she would unwillingly inflict on others. Though Ava disliked hurting others, it wasn’t so much that she cared tremendously for the lives of her victims, but rather how it damaged her self-image. On a surface level, Ava is confident, to the point of arrogance, stemming from her inflexible belief that she is better than other people. She had been raised to think as such, and this view hadn’t changed much through the years, though she’s learned to be quieter about this certain opinion. She rarely feels a need to flaunt or brag, as her lofty pride is simply a deeply rooted principle of her character. Despite this side of Ava, she is a private person, and seldom speaks of her past or feelings. Her views on life make it difficult for her to become close with others - Ava holds a contempt for humans only dwarfed by her aversion to the supernatural. 》H i s t o r y Ava was born as a noblewoman in the 17th century, to the House of La Trémoille. She was the second daughter out of three girls, in addition to two brothers as well - a rather large family. Her father had an adequate amount of power in the french court, allowing Ava and her siblings to enjoy a degree of luxury. She had a lavish upbringing, compared to most, though her high status came with a plethora of expectations. Ava was raised to become a poised, elegant lady, in order to maximize her chances of finding a good suitor, and become a source of pride for her family. Her life was filled with lessons in etiquette, dance, music, and embroidery, and once she became of age, Ava would begin participating in balls and other high society affairs. Simply put, Ava’s life followed a prescribed agenda. She was betrothed at 12 years of age to the son of a count, and married him several years later. She lived obediently, as she was told, and held true to her teachings, though she quite enjoyed the social aspect of noble life as well - before turning into a vampire, Ava was quite a cheerful and affectionate girl. Attending balls, tea parties, and other functions was the highlight of her youth, and served as a respite from her many lessons. Ava was spoiled - not as much as daughters from more noble families, but as expected for any member of the nobility. Whenever she wanted a new dress or set of jewelry, her family was quick to accommodate her demands. If not her family, she had servants that catered to many of her whims and inclinations. At the age of 21, Ava had her first and only child, a son she named Albert. She loved her boy, and spoiled him in the same way she was brought up. Albert had a nanny and servants too, who usually took on most of the laborious responsibilities of parenting. This freed up much of Ava’s time, allowing her to continue her lifestyle of extravagant socializing. She frequently attended salons, which were gatherings of men and women, normally hosted by women, meant for the exchange of ideas through discussion. There was a certain man at these events, that Ava understood to be the third or fourth son of a less powerful family, who seemed to fancy Ava quite a bit. She was appalled by his efforts of courtship, knowing that she was a married woman, and continued to reject his advances. It seemed that he took great offense to this - he believed that the solution to his predicament was to turn Ava into a vampire like himself. That way, she would have no choice but to leave her family for him. He attacked in the spring - he thought Ava would appreciate the poetic symbolism behind his choice in timing, to represent Ava’s new beginning. He first forced her to ingest his blood, before slowly tightening his grip on Ava’s throat, to complete the transformation. When Ava awoke, she didn’t understand why she was alive. A vivid coldness sheathed her entire being, and everything around her seemed to attack her senses. The streams of sunlight that gathered in the room singed Ava’s skin, she could hear the whispers of servants down the hall as if they were speaking next to her ears. Colors around the room were so saturated and detailed it had begun to hurt. Ava was immediately seen by a doctor, and was told she was severely ill without much explanation as to why. Initially, Ava managed to hold back by sheer willpower, though her condition worsened. Her head hurt so much she grew violent, as if throwing vases and breaking the wooden frame of her bed with one hand would alleviate her pain. Ava hardly had time to acknowledge her newfound strength in this state of agony. It wasn’t until a full day later, when impulse grew stronger than reason, that Ava couldn’t hold back her ferocious thirst, and attacked the first servant that attended to her that morning. Ava fled. She wasn’t sure what happened after, or what her husband and family believed, but she ran far enough that she didn’t end up finding out. During this time, Ava tried desperately to fight the animalistic desire to feed, only to end up attacking those around her in blind frenzies. She spent a long time wandering, cursing the wretched fate the higher powers have bestowed upon her. She didn’t believe she committed any sin heavy enough to warrant becoming a monster, and considered ending her life before the blood of more innocents tainted her hands. Eventually, Ava put herself together. She reluctantly lived in a remote village, for a while, secretly feeding on its inhabitants every so often, choosing to feed while sane instead of regressing to blind assault. She disliked the savage notion of biting into flesh, and would drink from cuts she inflicted on her victims. Every few years, she moved to a new town, a new country, and built a new identity in each place. She lived the lifestyle of a commoner for most of these identities, much to her absolute disgust, before slowly rebuilding the wealth she once enjoyed. Over time, Ava spent her time trying different methods to regain a sense of humanity as well. She realized quickly that animal blood was insufficient, and keeping a weaker vampire locked up for food purposes didn’t work that well either. Defeated in her search of an alternative, Ava listlessly continued existing, place to place. In certain moments of her long life, Ava also encountered members of both the Sinclaire Foundation and the Sanguine Moon clan, each inviting her to their cause. Ava’s resentment towards vampires kept her away, though she accepted a few requests from the Sinclaire Foundation to dispose of unchecked members in exchange for money. She was an older and therefore stronger vampire at that point, and she was delighted at the idea of killing one of her kin.
