Name: Chelsea Ibuki Age: 19 Gender: Female Hometown: Blackthorn City Appearance: Chelsea is 5'7", 122 lbs. She has deep blue eyes and long light blue hair, similar to that of her mother. She wears it straight down around her head, tied off with a bandanna at the top. She's normally seen wearing a red tank top with some vague Chinese symbols on it that comes up above her midriff, a pair of skinny blue jeans, black sneakers and a pair of fingerless black gloves. Profession: Trainer Type Specialty: Dragon Pokemon: Horsea Bio: Chelsea is the only child of Blackthorn's Gym Leader Clair and an unknown father. Clair was thrilled to have a daughter she could try to mold into her image and use to keep the family line strong in the city. They had a good relationship going until Chelsea was ten and the time came for her to begin her Pokemon training. She shocked her mom by saying that she didn't want to train Pokemon. After watching her mother's methods, involving many punishing nights in the waterfalls and whirlpools of the Dragon's Den, she decided she wasn't going to put what she considered her friends through such trials. Clair was furious and their relationship was instantly shattered. After her tenth birthday, Chelsea was given little to no attention by her mother and as she grew older, this lack of love at home turned her cold. Ironically Clair's lack of feeling for her daughter is exactly what she needed to become just like her. She still wasn't training any Pokemon, however. She held fast to her goal to be anything like her mother, even if she couldn't see she was failing on the mental side of that ambition. They continually grew distant as Chelsea floated her way through "normal" school until she hit 19. Chelsea was home for the evening she heard her mother making a phone call. The discussion and the piece of paper that Clair was holding piqued her daughter's interest. She grabbed the upstairs phone and listened in. There was a man on the line, talking about setting up a team in a far off land. He was asking if Blackthorn had any trainers who might be considered worthy enough to join. Clair said there were none. The man brought up the daughter he had heard Clair had, but that only brought out words from Clair such as "failure", "disappointment" and "frigid bitch". Chelsea couldn't contain herself after that last one. She ran downstairs, denouncing her mother before yanking the phone out of her hands. "I'm coming. Be ready," was all she told the man on the other line. With that she snatched the invitation out of Clair's hands and was out the door. In a way, Chelsea was ready for this. She had been looking for an opportunity to get away from her mother and the culture she cultivated, and this was the perfect opportunity. But in another way, she wasn't anywhere near ready, seeing as she didn't even have a Pokemon. She knew how to rectify that though. She went into the Dragon's Den to see the elder of the Dragon-User's Clan. When Chelsea got there, she told the elder that she was finally ready to start as a Dragon trainer and get a Dratini of her own. But the Elder took a look at the young woman. He saw way too much of Clair in her for his own liking and rejected her outright, saying she had waited too long and would not be receiving any Pokemon from him. The raging girl stormed out of the shrine and was about to go steal one of her mother's Pokemon when she came across something on the shoreline. It was a tiny Horsea, seemingly kicked out of the water by some unknown forces. It was battered, but still able to make feeble cries. Seeing that little Pokemon, a dormant force awoke in Chelsea, one of compassion that had been sealed away by years of family torment. She picked up the little Horsea, and brought it to the Blackthorn Pokemon Center. Obtaining a spare Pokeball from the Joy on duty, she captured the Horsea and with it set off for the area designated on the map, ready to prove her mother and her family wrong. Other: She does now a bit about basic battling strategy, having been allowed and then forced to watch Clair's regular gym battles against challenging trainers, but other than that she is a rookie, here only on her mom's reputation.
