A town with a lot of history and a lot of tradition, and is, a town with dark secrets, where the ghosts of the past still creep in the walls: A library that was once the old town courthouse, where three women were hanged on the charges of devil worship. The local high school where the prom king and queen have died in a car accident every year for the past 15 years. The theater which on rainy Sundays plays films that should not exist. Besides its bloody history which goes back to its founding in 1735, the town itself has always prided itself on being very safe. There's almost no violent crime. The only major deaths tend to all fall together, usually in 10-year increments. 1990, 2000, 2010, all had a high record of runaways, accidental deaths, and suicides. But it's a safe town to raise a family in. Summer has finally arrived. Quarantine in the state is lifted. And the newest anomaly in the town is this: you and several other teenagers are unable to leave the town. You cannot leave. Something is holding you here.

You are a teenager living in Everbrook, ages ranging from 15-19. You get around by borrowing the family station wagon, riding your bike, or walking. You might work at the local supermarket, an intern at the library, or cut grass. The world is supposed to feel like a town from the 80s era of films like ET, The Goonies, or newer shows like Stranger Things. The weird thing is, the time period is meant to be somewhat modern. The town is meant to feel anachronistic, and that is the first hint that something is off about the town. The town itself is full of creepy places that seem to exude anxiety, and even worse, something is keeping the main characters from leaving during the summer. The roads get blocked off if they try to drive to the next town, family vacations are mysteriously canceled, or university tours keep getting rescheduled. That leads to the driving force of the band of misfits to band together, uncover the secret of the town and free themselves from whatever hell is waiting for them. And no, it's not a clown. The story will follow a cast of 10 teenagers, who may be the next victims of some dark curse. The most famous story is that the library is haunted by the Denton Sisters, three women who were hanged for consorting with demons. Even stranger is the date they were hanged: 1825; hundreds of years after the practice of "witch trials" and the sort had ended. Workers at the library commonly speak about feeling like they being watched, and strange occurrences happening after 6 PM when the library closes.

Everbrook High School is fairly normal. Everyone acts normal; at least in the normal way, you'd expect teenagers to be. The only issue is this: Prom is constantly canceled. Why? Well, over the past 15 years, every year they've held a prom, the King and Queen have mysteriously died on Prom Night after being crowned. Usually in an automobile accident. Due to quarantine across the nation being lifted, the school has decided to hold the prom again. Even with it happening in June, will the curse continue?

The Diamond Theater is a staple of Everbrook. Two screens, shitty quality, and cheap popcorn. A place most kids go to make out in the back of the theater. But there's an odd rumor that on certain days, you can get a ticket for a special show which seems to act as a portent for disaster.

Turner Street: The quintessential suburban middle class street. Houses range from one-story ranches to two-story townhomes. The parents here tend to work for the local government or larger industry. Applen Avenue: Living near the main street of the town, these houses tend to be a bit shabbier than those on Turner. Single-family homes, apartments, and such are here. Living here most likely means you’re a latchkey kid, and you have all the excitement of riding your bike around the main street to look forward to after school. Courtland Street: The low-income part of town. Shabby shotgun houses, trailers, and such live here. If you’re a Courtland Kid, you’re definitely looked down on at school. You wear hand-me down clothes and you probably only have one parent and multiple siblings. You want a car? Good luck even having a bike. Everbrook Circle: The rich part of town. Large 5 bedroom houses, multiple cars, and the always coveted at summer pools. Only the most well-to-do live here. The mayor’s family, the plant owner, and old money families live here. You definitely got a car for your sweet sixteen. The park is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but teenagers have always hung out after hours. The park is also infamous, as the 10 suicide victims of 2010 were all found in the deeper woods of the park.

The oldest building in Everbrook, dating back to the city's founding in 1735. The church has been renovated multiple times and is a central part of the community (at least the religious side of it). An old silver mine turned tourist destination, spelunkers have explored the place since it officially closed in 1940, after 10 miners were found dead during a gas leak. The main chambers are open to the public, but deeper into the mines has been cordoned off for public safety.

The local police station, whose architecture dates back to the 1910's. The town's small police force still works out of the old building. For anything more important than a drunk tank, convicts would have to be transferred to the county jail 30 miles away in Pembrooke.

The local community college in the area rests on the mountainous side of the city limits, near the highway, and is the local community college for Everbrook and the surrounding communities. Formerly a private school in the late 1800s, it was renovated and turned into the local community college in 1977. Offering courses in nursing, accounting, education, and public administration, it is a far cry from any of the good universities in the larger cities. Still, it is home to Radio Everbrook, the local college radio station that plays the good hits.

The mill has been a part of the town since 1736, making it the oldest industry standing in Everbrook. Still run by the Prescott Family, the oldest kind of old money around. If there's one place that exudes negative energy, it's the Mill. The only time it was closed was in 1960, when 10 workers were killed in an accident. Please try to be mindful about posting in the RP. If something comes up and you find yourself unable to post, let the others and myself know beforehand so we can plan accordingly. 2. Respect the other writers and characters. Don’t try to take centerstage with your character. This is a group story and everyone contributes to the plot. 3. If you have a twist in mind, work it out with me first, please. As GM I want to make sure the story makes thematic sense and is enjoyable for the entire cast. The reason why I ask so much from the character sheets is to help shape the story around these characters.
