Star Wars: Legacies Character Sheet Character's name: Dev Arx Race: Human Faction: The New Republic Character Alignment: Neutral Character Background: Captain Dev Arx has served the "New Republic" since it was still a rebellion. He was recruited by a fast-talking, hot-blooded twi'lek recruiter by the name of Rexalia shortly after the Battle of Yavin on Dev's home planet of Ord Mantell. To a younger Dev, when news of the destruction of the Death Star (something he didn't even know existed, like most of the galaxy) reached the underground holonet, the young man from Ord Mantell saw the opportunity to become something more than he was. He was a strong lad with a tough constitution, and had been working as a scavenger and shuttle operator for some time. Back then, he was just your average working man on Ord Mantell. He never knew what he was bound to become. Turns out, Dev was a natural at "soldiering" and the like, to use his own words. He wasn't particularly cultured or proper, but that wasn't a problem when he was handed a blaster. He went through very basic training with flying colors, seeming to be a natural with anything handed his way. He served under a certain Bith Captain Fon Stim, a fellow native of Ord Mantell who took a liking to the young soldier. They were very temporarily stationed on Tureen VII during an Imperial Blockade, where Dev earned a battlefield promotion to Sergeant. Dev served under Captain Stim for about a year and a half, managing to risk life and limb on countless occasions to get the job done. Captain Stim, a surprisingly knowledgeable soldier with a fairly dubious history prior to the war, taught Dev some of the basics when it came to piloting starfighters and more long-range troop transports. He wasn't particularly capable, but he got by. On top of that, he was taught how to use a variety of blasters and melee weapons. As with everything "soldiery" that Dev had been taught, he seemed like a natural. So it was only natural that he was recommended by Captain Stim to undergo more rigorous training to become a Commando. After months of training, Dev underwent specialist training as an Urban Combat Specialist. Instead of serving in the field like he used to, he was working frequently with Alliance Intelligence and fellow UCS operatives to engage in guerilla warfare against the Empire. It was struggling being so far from the action, with incidents like Hoth and Endor seeming distant from the cold reality that he was living. It was during this time in the UCS that he met Hetigee (who more often goes by "Hit"), a Zabrak slicer who had just recently been recruited as an Urban Combat Specialist herself. The two, a few months after the Battle of Endor, were part of the initial strike team sent to Alsakan along with Alliance Intelligence to begin the preparations for the widescale assault. Dev and Hit were working alongside Rexalia, who had made the transition from Rebel Alliance Recruiter to underworld diplomat rather seamlessly. Rexalia helped convince local smugglers and nobility to side with the Alliance, and managed to pass on information to Alliance Intelligence on how to get troops and supplies into Alsakan under the government's noses. Rexalia, following the Battle of Alsakan, received commendations for his work. Dev and Hit simply got new assignments. The Universe was a lot different once the Galactic Civil War had technically ended. With Alsakan liberated and the New Republic more formally declaring itself the new government of the galaxy, Dev and Hit were transitioned out of traditional Specforce work and were instead serving alongside Republic Intelligence full time. They were more backup muscle and insurance policy than traditional soldier. Hit loved the work, but Dev wanted nothing more than to go back into the field and do something that mattered. It was a surprise, then, when a certain Republic Intelligence operative reached out: Rexalia. She was putting together what he called DART: The Diplomatic Advanced Reconnaissance Team. The former Rebel recruiter was now working as a diplomat of sorts, with DART's focus being on trying to probe independent factions and criminal syndicates for information or partnerships. Rexalia's pitch was simple: DART was the team you sent in to get information before the New Republic sent in the real diplomats. Dev, yearning to go back into the field in some capacity, was promoted to the rank of Captain and given control over DART following Rexalia's recommendation. Granted, being somewhat in command of a multi-lingual Twi'lek and a grumpy Zabrak wasn't much of a promotion. But DART has promise... and who knows where they'll get sent next. Character Personality: Dev is, in Republic Command's eyes, the perfect soldier. His personal life, for the most part, has been non-existent (except for the rare fling). He's goal oriented, and typically views the mission as a higher priority than his own life. That being said, he was never really given a chance to be a leader. He's rather rough along the edges, tending to keep jokes to a minimum. He's gotten into feuds with commanding officers and his brothers-in-arms on multiple occasions over the importance of the mission, often trying to deter his comrades from stepping in to help those in need when it was outside of mission parameters. He is almost always thinking in terms of the big picture, focusing on the greater good of the New Republic than on the needs of the people around him. Her background check shows that she was in the service of a noble family on Coruscant as a live-in housekeeper, and that she was clearly well-educated. As soon as Rexalia heard of the Rebel Alliance, she used every trick and favor she had to leave her employers behind. She managed to earn a role in Alliance Intelligence as a recruiter, and was the one who managed to find Dev Arx among the scrap heaps of Ord Mantell. She had a silver tongue and a quick wit, and managed to earn her role as an operative later in the war. Following her small role in helping with the staging of the Battle of Alsakan, as well as continued success in rooting out some Imperial Remnant cells, Rexalia has recently been able to weasel her way into a new position: as the Republic Intelligence liaison for the newly created Intelligence-Spec Force joint Diplomatic Advanced Reconnaissance Team... which she simply abbreviated to DART. Hetigee Slate: A former small-time slicer, "Hit" is a female Zabrak with an attitude. She signed on to join the Rebel Alliance near the end of the Galactic Civil War because she felt it was the right thing to do, and ever since has always been focused on doing the right thing. She butts heads with Dev constantly, but respects him as a leader and more experienced soldier. Her specialty has always been in sabotage, and would only engage Imperial troops sparingly in the war. Captain Fon Stim: The Bith New Republic Captain Fon Stim hasn't been heard from in the past three years. His background checks revealed that he had previously worked for the Black Sun crime syndicate, but his personality profile and interrogations suggested he'd be a good fit for the Rebel armed forces. He served admirably throughout the war, and was well-respected among his peers. He was a remarkable pilot and mechanic, but refused to serve in the navy or go through training to become a marine. Three years ago, his transport was attacked en route to Chandrila to live out a desk job working for Republic Command. There were no survivors, but his body was the only one unaccounted for. There has been no word of him since.
