Star Wars: Legacies Character Sheet Character's name: Jaysin Lyr Race: Human Faction: The New Republic / New Jedi Order Character Alignment: Good Character Background: Jaysin Lyr wishes that Order 66 was the only day in which his world fell apart. He remembers the day that he had to hide the fact that he had been a member of the Jedi Order, raised since he was quite young in the Jedi Academy on Coruscant. A routine investigative mission to the planet of Jakku saw both Jaysin and his master, Ro Nuul, manage to evade and intercept the broadcast revolving around Order 66. Quite simply, the two made a simple life together as moisture farmers on the desert planet. Before then, Jaysin was an unremarkable Jedi Padawan nearing his Knight trials. Master Ro Nuul was a Kel Dor Jedi Knight proficient in the practice of dueling with two lightsabers, though only had one left. Ro Nuul never explained how he had managed to lose a lightsaber. The Jedi Master was cautious and an embodiment of the patience and harmony with the force that the Jedi Order was founded on. Jaysin learned to embody those same ideals... though his greatest test was the day that Jorren Alleer found the two Jedi. Jaysin learned that Ro Nuul had a Jedi Padawan earlier in the Clone Wars who had been presumed lost and dead in a conflict on Taris. Jorren's lightsaber had been damaged in that battle, and Ro Nuul had lent his padawan one of his lightsabers. While Ro Nuul was off on a run to the nearest station on Jakku for supplies, Jorren managed to jump Jaysin and kidnapped him. Jorren Alleer, mad with anger that Ro Nuul had left him to die, managed to lead Ro Nuul on a chase back to the planet Taris. Ro Nuul managed to hitch a ride on-board the ship of a surprisingly wealthy smuggler on Jakku. In the depths of Taris where Jorren had managed to survive alone, Jorren gave Ro Nuul a choice: die, or watch his newer padawan truly be destroyed. Ro chose to sacrifice himself for Jaysin. Jaysin remembers, to this day, the sight of Jorren plunging his lightsaber into Ro's chest. Jorren freed Jaysin from his restraints, and Jorren's words still echo in Jaysin's mind. "My work is finished. Go." Of course, Jaysin couldn't. He pulled for his lightsaber and his master's, and engaged in a duel with Jorren. Jaysin's training and coolness under pressure ultimately prevailed. Jaysin was able to disarm Jorren by cutting off his right hand, and held the fallen Jedi by lightsaber-point. The Jedi code forbid revenge. So Jaysin resorted to destroying Jorren's lightsabers and left the broken and wounded man to his fate. Jaysin was able to hitch a ride back to Jakku from Ro's friend, and lived his days in quiet contemplation and training in the force. Jaysin didn't emerge until word had come not only of the falling of the Empire, but of the reforming of a New Jedi Order. Jaysin, a much older and wiser man than he had been when his faith in the old Jedi ways, ended up making his way to the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV. It is here where Jaysin Lyr was able to train in the company of a new generation of Jedi. Due to his experience of the ways of the old order, and his training in a unique style of lightsaber combat, Jaysin Lyr has been serving as an instructor at the Jedi Praxeum. Character Personality: Jaysin Lyr is not what you'd expect of a man who had everything stripped from him at a relatively young age. He is a competent and wise Jedi, often acting rationally and with patience and caution. He believes in the New Jedi Order's purpose of allowing force users a place to study the force in safety, and he would be one of the first in line to defend it if it were threatened. Around the Praxeum, Jaysin makes an effort to drop whatever he is doing in his free time if any students ask for instruction, guidance, or even someone to talk to. In his older age, Jaysin often tries to help guide people towards the truths they are seeking without directly pointing them out, sometimes speaking cryptically and in a roundabout manner. It is, after all, a trick he picked up from his own master.
Supporting Characters: R3-D7: Lovingly referred to simply as R3, this is the astromech droid that accompanied him and Master Ro Nuul on their relief mission on Jakku. The Astromech Droid, by Jaysin Lyr's choice, has not had his memory wiped since the Clone Wars. This has led the R3 unit to develop some weird quirks, like mood swings and bouts of depressive nostalgia. He is the one who taught the Jedi padawan how to wield two lightsabers, as he's one of the few trained Jedi left capable of such a feat. Darth Solaris: Better known as Jorren Alleer, Darth Solaris was a former padawan of Ro Nuul. After killing his former master and being bested by Ro Nuul's former apprentice, Jorren Alleer wandered the galaxy searching for purpose. He had to evade Imperial Inquisitors left and right, but managed to find solace with a Mandalorian swordsman who simply called himself "The Butcher." With the Butcher's help, Jorren was able to eventually locate an old Sith lightsaber and holocron to help guide his self-descent down the path of the dark side. Claiming to be a Sith, Darth Solaris grew strong enough that he had no need of his Mandalorian trainer. He now has a singular goal in his mind: take everything away from Jaysin Lyr like everything had been taken from him.
