Name: Lauren Faustus Age: 14 Nationality: American

Abilities: Personality: Lauren is often just a dark and shadowy ball of bouncy energy. Kind and cheerful, she is naturally easy to get along with as long as you aren't a jerk. She is easily distracted by things that interest her, or that she finds cute. Like spiders. She also has a strange talent for appearing out of nowhere the very second people start seriously discussing mysteries, creepy urban legends, and supernatural occurances, with a mouth full of questions and a pen ready to take notes.
Likes:

Cutie Crawlies! Lauren's bedroom is filled up with plush toys of scorpions, spiders, bats, rats, snakes, centipedes. And she has a pet Turantula named Mina.
Gothic-ness! She has a love of vampires, monsters, Halloween decorations, Victorian and Renfair style clothing, surreal art, and classical dark poetry.
Religion and Mythology! Lauren is a huge nerd for all kinds of legends, beliefs, theology, superstitions, lore, and parapsychology.
Nature! Flowers, trees, gardens, and parks are some of her favorite things.
When it looks like it's just rained, and is about to rain again because there are still dark clouds everywhere, but the rain never actually comes, and she gets to walk around in the perfect Gothic Atmosphere! This is the best!
Dislikes:

Sports! Unless it's something weird and vaguely aesthetic to her, like maybe jousting, she really doesn't care to play, and certainly doesn't have any attention to pay.
Algebra! Who decided letters should get involved in math, anyway?
Hospitals, Nurses and Needles. Ick! No thank you.
Spicy food. No, no, no. Why would people want to eat something that hurts?

Fears: Lauren has some phobias. She's afraid of heights. She's afraid of being trapped or locked in a room. She doesn't like large bodies of water that she can't see into, because reading about sea monsters as a little girl both fascinated and terrified her. On the more deep and personal side of things she is afraid of missing out on beautiful experiences and being left out by her peers. Bio: Lauren has lived in the suburban town of Shady Hollow in western Ohio her whole life. Her mother, Mariah, is a very good artist and an art history professor at a nearby university. However as a little girl, she spent a lot more time with her stay at home dad, Charles who has been trying to finish writing the same horror/fantasy novel since before Lauren was born. He's almost had it finished for the last three years. Lauren's mom was and still is often kept very busy with work and arte projects. Not that she wasn't around at all. She spent as much tome as she could with her daughter. It's just never been as much time as her dad. Her dad would play games and read to her. And he taught her how to cook, and took her on shopping trips to the mall on weekends as long as she got good grades. Up until middle school, the two were almost inseparable. Her dad also introduced her to science fiction and fantasy and weird books with titles like Mysterious Signs of the Unknown full of peoples sightings of Bigfoot, alien abduction reports, and claims of hauntings and witchcraft. Many of these were kept in his study as source material for the book he is writing. This might have had some small impact on her aesthetic and interests. Ever since the fourth grade, Lauren has been styling herself more and more as a Victorian vampire goth. But she isn't really depressed or brooding or cynical at all. She just likes cemeteries instead of beaches and bugs instead of unicorns. She started to write songs and poems during middle school, but she doesn't ever show them to anyone. She still keeps a lyric journal on her at all times though. She's slowly becoming known as the perky and hyper one of the goth girl clique in Shady Hollow High.
