Alberta is perhaps one of the biggest bullies in the academy's student body, with a penchant for intimidating the weak in the most snide and derisive way possible. Once standing amongst the best students of Avalice, the vanity she emanates is almost suffocating. She's quick to mock even the smallest of her peers' mistakes, and her ego is almost too inflated to believe. Though Alberta's arrogance, hot temper and crude tongue seem to show no bounds, her high societal ranking reminds her to remain a little more graceful and proper in the company of her social superiors. Most of the time, anyway.

But in reality, Alberta is a lonely, bitter mess of a child. Trust and kindness don't come easily to a girl who's been scorned and neglected her entire life. She knows no better than to lash out at her opposition or be suspicious of true generosity, and has a hard time believing one could ever genuinely care for her. Alberta's mean-spirited personality and aggressive behaviour shields the insecurities that plague her heart, and she goes to lengths to distract herself from them; she'll indulge in luxuries or throw herself into training, anything to keep her mind off what she perceives as a major weakness. But if there's one word of praise that can be said about Alberta, it's her determination. No matter how painful the training regimens, how tiring the studies, or how condescending her superiors, Alberta is fiercely determined to reach the top of the school on her own accord. Not for her family, not for her professors, but for herself. It is there she once belonged, and it is there where she will strive to dominate.

A curtain of shame had been hung over the Blumenthal family since the death of Lord Dietrich von Blumenthal 173 years ago, who was presumed to be the last competent mage of the once respected house. What followed was a succession of unremarkables and failures, each one worse than the last. That was until Lord Aldrich von Blumenthal, the current patriarch and Alberta's grandfather, dedicated himself to repairing his family's honour through endless hours of intense study and excruciating work. And shockingly, he succeeded; the Blumenthal house was gaining respect again, their lands and riches were being restored, and his beloved daughter Lady Adalind had shown the potential to surpass Aldrich from the age she enrolled into Avalice. By her thirties she was happily married to a fellow academy graduate, and soon Alberta von Blumenthal would be welcomed into the world.

But things took a turn for the worst when Adalind's husband fell in battle to a group of rogue mages a day before Alberta was born. The grief took an extra toll on Adalind, and the already difficult pregnancy weakened her body. She didn't survive her daughter's birth.

Alberta was not welcomed into the world, rather mistreated by a devastated and spiteful grandfather. Though she was magically gifted, Aldrich refused to acknowledge the young girl's talent and was only frustrated that she could never be the prodigy her mother once was. As their relationship worsened, so did Alberta's temperament, and Aldrich was almost fearful of the shame her attitude and supposed incompetence could bring to the family after all his immense efforts to restore it to its former glory. While he knew his granddaughter would have to take his position soon, he couldn't help but detest her for ending his daughter's life. It was the biggest sigh of relief to Aldrich when he sent Alberta away to Avalice.

Enrolled into Class R, Alberta steadily rose in recognition and notoriety; she was a wealthy high born mage with talent and beauty, and that drew people to her. It was almost euphoric, receiving such strong recognition and praise for the first time in her life. But that wasn't enough for Alberta, she wanted more attention, more power. With two other classmates at her side, the trio made it their hobby to overpower weaker students and make them miserable; that superiority made her feel like she could overcome anything. Much to the frustration of her adversaries, Alberta was still considered a rising star amongst the student body, her talent seeming to overshadow her cruelty.

But one could say Alberta soon got what she deserved. An intense row with her grandfather before the last semester of the school year left Alberta at her lowest in a long time, and her academic performance suffered. The tipping point for Alberta was when one of her two close classmates, who'd had enough of Alberta's antics, bested her in a class sparring session. For the first time in a while she had been totally beaten down, verbally humiliated in front of a class of thirty who all cheered for her defeat. It was like her classmate's words had been taken straight out of her grandfather's mouth, and that stirred something in Alberta. In a fit of rage and fear, briars erupted from the ground and shot towards her classmate with full intention of taking her life, and had Class R's professor not saved her on time, such a catastrophe would have happened. Alberta's brutality couldn't go unnoticed any longer; circumstances had to be changed, otherwise she wouldn't.

Now Alberta has fallen to the bottom of the school food chain, placed in Class C against her will. Though she still faces humiliation from her former classmates and those who've heard of her fall from grace, Alberta refuses to bend to their remarks. The [i]Language of Flowers[/i] is the main spellbook used by the Blumenthal family, containing incantations that date back centuries ago. Though small in size the spells inside grant great power and versatility in the hands of a person who understands its intricacies. The book is separated into different chapters or 'Languages': Roses, Sunflowers, Marigolds and Wisteria. Each chapter has its own speciality, including offensive, defensive and supplementary. Though it is possible to learn and utilise every language with enough training and study, those who use the spellbook often specialise in one language.[/indent][/indent] [sub][color=green][b]✦ M A G I C[/b][/color][/sub][indent][indent]Flora Magic: Language of Flowers[/indent][/indent] [sub][color=green][b]✦ S P E L L S[/b][/color][/sub][indent][indent]✤ [b]Rose Garden[/b]: Alberta summons large rose briars from the ground, and directs them towards her opponent. It also grants her the ability to bind or trap someone, making them susceptible to other attacks. Depending on her mana input, the briars can increase in size, strength and speed.
✤ [b]Bleeding Thorns[/b]: A flurry of small thorn projectiles surround Alberta until she hurls them towards a target. This spell is a lot faster to conjure than her briars, but it is much easier to deflect and injuries sustained are often minor.
✤ [b]Scarlet Wind[/b]: Alberta transforms into a gale of rose petals and charges towards her opponent with great speed. The strength of the gale is enough to knock the average person off their feet, as if she was shoving them with her entire body weight. This spell can be used as a minor distraction or to evade incoming attacks. However, it is a very taxing spell to use especially in succession, and Alberta can retain this form for only a few seconds.

✤ [b]Daybreak Florescence[/b]: A spell from the Language of Sunflowers, Alberta stretches her hand out until a blinding yellow light flashes from it. While it works well during any time of the day, it works best during the night when the eyes have become more adjusted to the dark. It cannot be used as a temporary light source, as its brightness is intended to stun those in Alberta's immediate vicinity. The effects of this spell aren't as severe on its caster, but Alberta still has to shut her eyes when she uses it.

✤ [b]Golden Symphony[/b]: A spell from the Language of Marigolds, a deep golden glow envelops Alberta's body, temporarily alleviating her physical pains. The spell is originally intended to heal others, but as of now she is only able to use this spell on herself, and only for ten minutes.
