Her father doted heavily on her and would revel in taking Emilia to the rink to show off to all the team and the employees, although sometimes a little to close to the action for Caroline's liking. She started skating at a young age, and spent a lot of time under the watchful eye of her grandmother Hedvig, who would often take her grandchild out for activities at the school where she taught in Apple Valley. Emilia was encouraged to explore many different pursuits, and she did just that. When Niklas was traded from the Wild to the Los Angeles Kings in 2010, he brought his family with him to sunny California, knowing his long-term future was secure after signing a seven-year contract with the club upon arrival. Hedvig retired from teaching to move with the family into a new home in Brentwood Park. A life of sun, sand and no more mittens suited Emilia, as it seemed like her body soaked in the glow and embodied the warm feelings that they gave out.
