They watched as Trent booked it to the lifeboat, pushing Caelea aside as he did so. The shorter woman had turned to the newcomers, told them to trust her, and then hurried off to find the others. Someone telling Finn to trust them was a red flag, but the bigger red flag was the continuous shockwaves rocking the vessel. They tried, and struggled, to stand, their knees shaking and buckling like a newborn fawns. Why were physical bodies so damn...clumsy? Finley clung to the railing of the ship for support, still trying to hobble their way to the lifeboat. Keeping in theme with things happening way too quickly, a few more newcomers joined the scene. A young woman sporting a yellow beanie and a Scottish accent, and a young man clinging to a guitar case who looked terribly upset. There was no time for formal introductions, or even to make observations beyond this point. There wasn't even time for Finley to rebuke the 'kids' comment Caelea had made before she hurried off. As Hagan was noticing something that sent dread through Finley.
"... Are we moving or is that just me?"
And they were...and very quickly a slight slide became the boat snapping in half. Finley hung onto the railing for dear life. Legs dangling through the freezing air. Even in just the few moments they had held on they could feel their arms shaking, their body not built for holding their own weight. Terribly, dizzying, panic set in as Finley looked down into the dark, churning, waters below. They weren't even sure if they had ever swum before, no less in freezing ocean water. Finley felt themselves locking up. Their eyes looked up towards where the lifeboat was, they couldn't be more than five feet away from the lifeboat, and the others clinging to the deck. But there was no way they would be able to vertically monkey bars up that high. "I...can't pull myself up!" I don't want to die again.
