It was a buzzing sound, reminiscent of a large insect - and it didn't take her long to deduce its source. She stopped playing, hugging the lute to her chest. Perhaps, just perhaps, its wooden frame would help muffle the vehement beat of her heart. It did not. An instant later, one of the flying creatures she'd seen earlier emerged from behind the table. It thrust towards her, and Leanna could do little but raise an arm to try and protect her face and neck. She felt it puncture her arm, attaching itself firmly to her flesh. Leanna screamed, adrenaline gushing through her bleeding body as newfound fear seeped into her conscience. She could feel her strength draining, a sudden dizziness clouding her vision. She'd never been hurt before - not to this extent, not so suddenly. Would she... die? Already? No, no she could not let that-- From the corner of her eye, she saw someone move. It was the woman she'd seen earlier, though the feline that had accompanied her was nowhere to be found. Leanna caught a glimpse of an icy glow. A cool breeze brushed past her, pulling at all the little hairs on her arm. And then suddenly, she felt a huge weight fall off her arm. Something hit the floor. The creature was dead. "Thank you... thank you," Leanna breathed out, still half adaze. She had no idea whether she'd spoken loudly enough for the woman to hear, but the bard gave her a glance that conveyed her relief well enough. Her arm stung, but Leanna refused to look at it. She didn't want to see the damage done. There were others caught in a fight with the monsters still. She'd been saved - the least she could do was return the favour in kind. Leanna stood shakily, taking in the battlefield behind her. She noted each and every monster in particular, and quickly realized how many of them there were. Three men were caught in the middle of it all, two of them quite injured. "Be not afraid! You're not alone," she shouted to the tiefling, who seemed quite intent on carrying on the fight. Her words were accompanied with a little tune and a dash of magic. Hopefully, that would rejuvenate him a little. With that, she balanced her lute against her injured arm and played another note, eyes focused on a spot near the door. It was a somber, slow tune; a lullaby, if you will.
