This was so the citizens could look up and see the night sky as their ancestors did, and to look upon the possibilities laid before humanity. Fortnight after Fortnight through his childhood, this view left a deep impression on Jason.

Jason's grades, aptitude, and family connections allowed for his entry to the Terra Space Force recruitment office. The ways of microgravic/variable-gravic operations, combat, and logic were burned into his mind. Jasons aptitude for the biological sciences quickly led him to the medical field. Balancing his tours of service with intense study lead him to gain a Doctorate in Medicine as well as the role of Senior Flight surgeon of the TSF Iroquois, at the age of 30. A position he served with distinction for six years.

The 'Death' of the Iroquois was marked as one of the darkest and brightest hours of the Terra Space Force. The quick thinking and decisive action of Jason, as well as other staff, saved 55 crew from radiation poisoning and Vacuum death. After the Iroquois limped home crippled and barely holding together, Jason was awarded various commendations and choice of commission. 

When the position fo chief medical officer for the Erebus, the military was charged with filling the slot. Jason was a natural choice. He accepted without hesitation. To go farther than any man, to walk in the light of other suns. How can a son of New Virginia say no?

Putting down the mission briefing, Jason looked out to the port window. He remembers himself looking up into the inky black as a child, and smiled.

I like it. I can only add a minor nitpick, and that he would likely be involved with the United Nations Space Command, as opposed to the Terra Space Force, unless the TSF is some independent, private entity such as a corporation, which is totally fine.
