Bio: Dr. Mbonambi was born in Cape Town, South Africa to a mother who released custody of her daughter to the state for unknown reasons. She was adopted by her parents Dr. Mangosuthu Mbonambi and Dr. Francine Mbonambi shortly after her second birthday and even from such an early age, her parents stressed the importance of education. This push for academic excellence is to be expected from two esteemed researchers and they were absolutely delighted as their adoptive daughter skipped multiple school grades and took to fast-tracked college like a fish to water. Everyone told her she was a prodigy when she graduated from the University of Cape Town with a dual masters in geology and biology at the age of 23. She merely asserted she works harder than other people as she went on to earn her doctorate in biology four years later. Whatever the reason for her success, her groundbreaking research in the fields of organic machinery, speculative astrobiology, and synthetic biology as well as the parts of her work with the ever-secretive Yggdrasil Initiative that she’s legally allowed to disclose garnered the attention of United Nations recruiters. They were happy to overlook her… [i]eccentricities[/i] as well as the more legally and ethically dubious portions of her research when they offered her the position of Chief Science Officer aboard the Erebus.
