With that in mind, General Treselang quickly made his way to meet with the Vorn Tigers recon squad to give them their orders. Based on the limited information about the squad, there weren’t any other options than to hope that the job gets done. Once the shuttle landed, Treselang made his presence known to the squad. “I take it you all are the Vorn Tigers?” asked the general. “That would be us, sir.” The leader of the squad, Sergeant Vale stated. She quickly rose to her feet, setting down her rifle as she saluted Treselang. Around her was the rest of her team, each one suited up for the mission as it drew nearer. They all turned their attention to the arrival of the General. The members of Vorn Tiger squad each had their own little rituals ahead of a mission, small superstitions. Zena’s was the frantic care with which she looked after her A280, a white rag alongside it on the floor where she had been seated cleaning it. The rifle practically shined in the lights of the hangar. It was always spotless, how Sergeant Arash drilled into her mind during her early days in the rebellion. Private Leapfar’s ritual was the nap she took before every single mission, though the Nosaurian had popped right awake at the arrival of General Treselang though. As the squad’s resident sniper dropped down from her X-Wing her fellow soldiers smirked. “Good.” General Treselang nodded as his second-in-command arrived with a datapad for the leader. He took it from Meffaa and had a brief look, making sure that everything was correct. Then a few seconds later, the general handed it to the sergeant and asked her to follow him to the comm room for debriefing. “What were you told about this mission?” “That we were going to deploy ahead of the rest of the ground troops. Into a potential hotzone.” She stated plainly, repeating the simple sounding orders that Republic command had given her team. As she followed the general the rest of her squad looked around at each other in curiosity before going back to what they were doing before the general’s arrival. “Did our assignment change, General?” She inquired as her eyes glanced over the datapad. What command had told her about their role in the mission was not much to go by, but it squirted the typical role her squad played on the battlefield. “It has.” Treselang answered. He made his way to the holomap and turned it on, revealing the old Republic base. “This former Republic base is an ideal place for the main force, but the Imperium have secured it. Your orders are to scout out the base and take it, if possible. If not, report the strength of their presence. But, there’s something… else that requires your touch. Tell me, do you have a demolition expert?” “That would be me, sir. I typically carry all manner of explosives with me on mission. I know how to plant remote detonated ones to hit the Imps extra hard. What exactly requires an explosive touch on this mission, General?” Zena asked inquisitively, smirking as she spoke of her expertise with explosive manners. It was no secret that she enjoyed that part of her job. The commando did wonder what more this mission entailed. The objectives seemed to have changed from simple reconnaissance to taking it. She doubted the Imperials stocked the base with troopers, certainly not more than Vorn Tiger squad could handle. Hell, she almost took it as a challenge if there were too many of them. Zena was no moron though, she wouldn’t drag her team into a fight against overwhelming numbers and odds. But from her many operations against the Imperials she knew that if you struck them brutally enough then the numbers advantage would matter less and less. “Well, I’d prefer keeping this part between us. I won’t want the Vice-Adminal nor the Council to know about this until it happens.” Treselang switched out the map of the base to the layout of several locations. He looked at the hologram for a moment and then turned to Zena. “Before I joined the rebel cell, I was leading a community that was displaced by the Empire on Lothal. That was until… we were attacked. The rebel cell that saved my life were unable to save the others that were killed or sent to a detention camp. There are two on Utrost. I want you to save the prisoners and destroy the camps. Then, head out to the nearby mines and blow it up. Any questions?” “It will stay between me, you and my team. They won’t have any issue with freeing prisoners, they each were slaves or prisoners of the Imperial at one point in their lives. Rest assured they will be saved, General.” Sergeant Vale stated in a firm tone. It was not the first time her squad had been asked to free captives, she knew her team would rally behind doing it. “Are we to move onto that after we recon and take the former Republic base, sir?” She asked. “Yes.” the general responded as the hologram was turned off. “We need to make sure that the Imperium bleed especially if we don’t end up taking the planet. Your team is doing that by striking where it’ll hurt them the most: resources. Just make sure to contact me once you freed the prisoners. I will arrange transport for them to my ship. May the force be with you all.” “We will make those bastards hurt, sir. I can assure you of that. My team always hits them hard. We will keep a line of communication once we’ve landed planetside.” Zena replied as her voice swelled with pride over their past actions against the Empire. If there was one thing Republic command knew about Vorn Tiger squad it was their determination and drive on these types of missions especially. “May it be with you as well, General.” Sergeant Vale added with an inspired salute before she exited the room to return to her team. The commando then exited the comm room to get back to her eager squad.
