He's very thick-boned and muscled to the brim -- no decoration, but effective volume with blood vessels bulging beneath his skin here and there. Speaking of the latter: It has a leathery touch and hardly anything of a human's reddish hue is to be seen on the gray surface. His black hair goes all into a small number of thick, woven strands that reach well past his shoulders and are held together by a small metal application. There are also small metal decorations attached to his ears. His eyes appear to be small and a little sunken, but otherwise are completely within the ordinary with their brown color. There are no scars on his scalp, but if he'd turn down his clothes one could see some among various other parts of his body. And don't ever dare to try and cut his fingernails too hard: He'd lose a tertiary weapon. Personality: Vanjathar is by no means dumb, but he neither has the will nor the experience necessary for a good smalltalk. He and his methods are seen as brute-ish more often than not and being looked down onto by most poeple for being a hybrid between true man and true orc has rendered him very careful socially, but underneath that silent, thorny crust is someone who values friendship for he has lost way too much of that over the course of his career. He's not hot-headed, but stubborn sometimes especially when it comes to giving mercy to those he thinks don't have earned it. Class/skills: It is safe to say that one can just pretty much forget about him when it comes to any attempt of convincing somebody else the charismatic way. Not only is he an half-orc, but he also has that certain barbaric look to him. His tongue works pretty much as direct as does his fighting style and thus he's not suited for any verbal battle. When it comes to disposing of threats quickly, even at the cost of having to be patched up himself afterwards, he can unfold a disturbingly efficient potential for pure phyiscal destruction however. When a more dancing, agile, light and careful approach simply doesn't cut it he might have a much better chance. He's also learned from early on how to be more independent than the average, knowing which berries and fungi can be eaten more than once in a lifetime, how to climb and how to read tracks. Equipment:

For protection, Vanjathar wears what can be described as a compromise between the protection it offers, the burden it poses and the maintenance cost and effort it requires. It basically is a combination of fur and hardened leather on top of which a large array of metal scales has been added. It's not exactly nice looking and easy to get underneath if you know how and have the right weapon, but otherwise rather durable and cheap to fix while still being more flexible than real plate armor.
Vanjathar's weapon of choice is a two-handed maul
Sometimes corners are tight or you want to use your other hand for something like holding a lamp while still having at least some sort of weapon at the ready, so he's got a one-handed scimitar as an alternative.
Generic traveler's supplies: A backpack, clothes, food and water rations for a day or two.
It would not be the first time for him to become wounded, so a bandage and a bit of alcohol for cleaning comes in handy more often than not.
A rope with a grappling hook attached to one end of it.
History: Vanjathar's paths can be tracked back to the lands of Narfell, but are then quickly lost in the frozen wastelands only inhabited by nomadic tribes, all too daring individuals and the ocasional trade caravan. Given his place of birth and him being an half-orc it can't come as a surprise that he never really managed to socialize with anyone else than those most immediate to him. Maybe he'd still be roaming around in this sad part of Faêrun if it hadn't been for that one day when his tribe made the decision to divert from its original path in order to hunt down a group of adventurers. The latter had been regarded as dangerous since they were headed straight for one of the large ruins, most likely in order to loot treasures and unveil other things that better stay down there. Things turned into an unexpected, but nontheless great disaster. A few of the people traveling with the party proved to be quite more capable than their outside appearance betrayed, so when they deployed their magic many of Vanjathar's close friends fell. He escaped the mutual carnage, but only to find himself alone in a region of the world where this is a very bad precondition. Now not feeling any binding to anything anymore, he left Narfell for some of the less daunting places of Toril. It was by this time that the long reach of the Emerald Enclave got a hold of him. He had heard of them before, but now joining them had become a much more temping option he ultimately accepted as a framework that would make him feel just that little bit less lonely and unsupported. It's not like he would ever have been the enclave's most trusted member everyone needing help would have looked forward to, but a few years were enough for the enclave's spirit to rub off on him a little. He's become a more enjoyable person who knows how much a good friendship can be worth, but unfortunately he currently finds himself stuck behind Strahd's cloudy barrier. Good thing that there's no lack of wilderness there, even though it's a kinda 'special' wilderness...
