If you want Miles to describe himself, his view is likely to vary drastically depending on the day. If you want to know who Miles is, it could be a simple matter of opening his “journals” from the years. Understanding said “journals” is another matter entirely. (Journals being a loose interpretation that has ranged from composition books, empty recipe books and sketchbooks to check registers and baseball card holders filled with index cards—whatever he could reach to scribble or doodle.) Perhaps the best way to somewhat understand Miles is from his disciplinary reports ranging from elementary school to high school.

“A well-spoken boy, yet disruptive and unwilling to remain stationary…”

“…and when prompted, would rather doodle than work on his letters and arithmetic…

“Presumptive in his questions and unwilling to accept the teacher’s answer… Very much distracting to other students due to his inability to comprehend course matter... though intelligent for a child of his upbringing.”
---
“…very inquisitive and easy to engage, while willing to participate…”

“…often distracted due to ease of subject matter. Enough so for me to recommend…”

A hyperactive boy treated as a “problem child” in school up until his family moved North. With his mom traveling for work and his dad working during the day, he often found himself alone, especially now that he was an only child. Being the new kid was enough. But add being black and a little weird? That was cruel. Not that the other kids were cruel, they just decided not to be anything to him at all. At the end of his first year at Crestwood Middle, a teacher finally bit the bullet and proposed he be bumped up a couple grades. He needed a different pace. Something, something more stimulating environment. Something about how good this was for…somebody. It didn’t seem to be him. Miles’ first thought was an immediate rejection. He barely could stand being outcast among kids his own age. Now they wanted to thrust him into high school. She wouldn’t have let them. But she wasn’t in Crestwood with them. So his dad told agreed and the teacher applauded and the principal smiled and nobody asked Miles what he thought. About a week into his transfer to Mathers Memorial High, Miles was assigned a “class mentor” from his new graduating class. Someone he could ask questions and ease his transition into classes with students 2 years his senior. He wasn’t thrilled, especially when he found out it was a white girl named “Vanessa.” He’d already been the token pony before, and she looked like the type to ask about his high-top. But what he got was a genuine smile, a handshake, and actual questions about what he liked to do. By the end of their free period together, they were already laughing. By the third day, she’d nicknamed him “Mice” due to the squeak he got in his voice when got excited. A week into seeing her throughout his class schedule it struck Miles that Vanessa reminded him of Simone. His older sister who would be just a year older than Vanessa, were she still alive. One day, he chanced to show her his current iteration of “journal”: an address book he’d gotten his hands on. “These are just he stories I want to tell about Simone, y’know. I guess if I ever feel they’re good enough.” Vanessa met his gaze with a smile: “Never doubt the stories you have to tell. Or the truth you have to share, it’s beautiful just be able to create something, Mice.” [TBC – I just can’t think of a way to condense all dis shit down right now.]

[sub][sup][sub]
A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S & W E A K N E S S E S A B I L I T I E S, L I M I T A T I O N S & W E A K N E S S E S
[/sub][/sup][/sub]
[sup]________________________________________________________________________________________[/sup]
[sub] H Y P E R H U M A N A B I L I T Y || P S I O N I C P R O J E C T I O N[/sub]
Miles’ hype-gene allows him to manipulate and condense his psychic energy to manifest physical entities on this plane. When manifested fully, they are materialized beings that can interact with (carry, push, throw, break, etc.) objects and people, as well as relay sensory/mental information back to Miles. The manifestations can move based on mental commands given to them by Miles. Along with being tangible to the physical world, his projections are also visible to the naked eye. The projections and formations most often look like hard light with a purple aura about them. Miles most notable (and so far, only) projection is a 7-foot, humanoid projection. Or, more aptly, a manifestation of his childhood imaginary friend—Fitz.
[sub] L I M I T A T I O N S || M A N I F E S T A T I O N, C O M M A N D, T I M E[/sub]
Manifestation: Miles is limited in only generating Fitz. And even then, fully generating Fitz would take an enormous mental toll on Miles. The required psychic energy and manipulation to maintain such a form requires strength and finesse from Miles’ brain that would leave him brain dead at this point. Miles will also be unable to generate Fitz at a smaller size. This stems from the wealth of emotion tied to Fitz over the course of his life. Miles’ emotions act as a catalyst/bonding agent to his psionic abilities. And currently, Miles is not skilled enough to filter or limit how much of that is sunk into his manifestation, preventing the construct from being condensed physically. It’s like an all-or-nothing principle in terms of his size. Miles’ limitation in generating only Fitz right now is due to the fact that he’s familiar with Fitz. Miles shares a strong mental connection and impression with the imaginary friend, resulting in “psychic mapping” of Fitz on a subconscious level. The more familiar Miles is—not just factually but emotionally— with what he’s projecting, the stronger it manifests. In the early phases of his ability development, in lieu of bringing forth a fully formed Fitz each time, Miles is projecting pieces of Fitz. Put simply, Miles uses his psionic abilities to manifest portions of Fitz’s body for different uses. (I.E. Fitz’s fist to throw a punch or bring an object out of reach; Fitz’s arm to block an incoming attack; Fitz’s ear to hear a conversation farther away.) Command: Miles will only be able to control Fitz within a 30-foot radius. A fully formed Fitz doesn’t have to be in his line of sight to continue existing. However, in these early stages, if Miles wants to know what Fitz is up against and wants to obtain sensory information, it requires Miles closing his eyes and concentrating, leaving him vulnerable. Miles can command manifested body parts within a 45-foot radius and they can leave his line of sight. However, once they leave his line of sight, even if he concentrates—unless the body part manifested is a sensory object (eyes or ears for now), he won’t get more than general information about it’s surroundings. So say he sends a projected hand around the corner, he won’t be able to see through it because he perceives the hand only as a hand. He’s not familiar with the hand in terms of gaining information outside of tactile signals. Time: Miles cannot manifest any psionic energies indefinitely. In fight-or-flight, survival mode, he can keep a full Fitz active for 12 minutes fully idle, 9 minutes simply walking around/doing menial tasks, and 4 minutes doing vigorous activity. With normal concentration at his early stages, Miles can keep body parts active for about 5-10 minutes, depending on the complexity of their actions, total. If he goes past that time limit, he’ll find himself suffering migraines and nausea.
[sub] W E A K N E S S E S || C O N C E N T R A T I O N[/sub]
Concentration: It probably goes without saying that Miles needs to concentrate a bit to bring his manifestations forth. Though they don’t take all of his concentration after being formed, any significant break in his concentration will cause them to dissipate. So while he could probably take holding a conversation or even being hit by a punch head-on, sucker punches/strikes and surprise attacks or sharp pains easily break his concentration. By extension, abrupt or sharp loud sounds not only cause him to let go of his projections, but they can also render him incapable of forming projections for a little while after. Alarms, unsuspecting train horns and the like can even put him out of commission for a short while.
