He was a local legend at the school, known for snarky remarks, barely passing grades, and a tendency to lean towards violence. What many don't know and wouldn't tell you, is that Hoseki has a fondness for birds. That he reads, usually horror-fiction, but it raises question marks all the same from his peers. That some of the poorer, weaker kids are under his umbrella of protection. But mostly, the real juicy part, is that he's kind and something of a leader when he wants to be. Background: Hoseki's birth was bittersweet. The climax to his father's life many would say. The rest of said-life seemed to be a jab at his surname: Rengoku, which translated, meant purgatory. For when morning came that night, the nurses introduced him to his son and explained that something had gone wrong. It was never clear what had happened, just that his wife had fought tooth and nail in that delivery room. The man cried deeply at this, he fell to his knees and raked from his core all his pain. Till his tears dried up and all that was left was a husk. It went without saying that Hoseki's childhood was hard. His dad was not an abusive man and neither was he a ninja. That particular gene was maternal. No, his dad had been a gravedigger for Konoha's fallen. It was a job that built all sorts of callouses both seen and unseen. To be frank, his dad hardly spoke to him. It almost appeared to Hoseki that he didn't exist in the eyes of his father. If not for the two chairs at the table or the few things that did pop up that screamed, 'KID ALERT', Hoseki could've fixed that belief in his mind. Being on the lower-end of society didn't help things. There were bullies and teasing, there was that persistent look of pity from the adults, and there was a bit of shunning. But Hoseki was always good at lashing out. Never being heard or seen at home, even when he stood defiant, made him a loud, angry kid. As he grew older, certain things changed. Features grew clear, turned out that Hoseki was a rather good-looking fellow and people noticed that. Funny how that changed his situation, not at home of course but at school, dramatically. People were being nice and Hoseki hated it. How fake, he often thought. But at that age he could hardly articulate the problem well enough, so he lashed out as normal. He became the bully, the feared 'Time-Bomb'. That carried on for awhile and everyone started talking about him as if he was smeared in legend or myth. He fought a lot of people and that seemed to be the cornerstone of it all. So when he met his uncle, who would later change his perspective with a single punch, he cried with laughter. His mother's younger brother, Satori, had a gruff and deliberate voice. When he spoke it was purposeful and not a word was wasted. Hoseki liked that. He remembered being called a punk when first they met. How Satori explained he was in Konoha the night his mother died, then left the next morning, traumatized by the shock of it all. But when he got a letter from Hoseki's father years later, he couldn't say no to his request. 'He wants me to mentor you. I said yes. I'll beat you first; you're the type that won't listen otherwise.' A single punch was all it took. Ever since that day, they've worked together, usually on shifting his perspective. Hoseki has eased up on being a loner. He's more inclined to helping people as well and now carries a offhand code of sorts. Fighting Style: Hoseki, in the world of ninjas, is a oddity. In that his fighting style is no-style. He's a brawler for the most part, enjoying a good fist-fight up close and personal. That meant the first thing, Satori worked on with him, was developing an effective long-range ninjutsu. Hoseki is rather simplistic and that shows itself best when's in the middle of a good fight. Abilities |

Greater Vessel: Hoseki was born with an above-average vessel for chakra. The amount he's capable of storing is perfect for his straight-forward prowess.
Honed through Conflict: Sparring, brawling, missions; even as a ninja his instincts and body are honed to a greater degree than most his peers. He's a fighter. He was meant for it, born for it. Not many can say that and Hoseki's always used combat as a outlet. A big part of him actually enjoys it.
Fire Fist: An enhanced form of combat, one that coats his fist with fire and amps them up another notch. Its low-cost in chakra is perfect for drawn out fights and his already explosive strength. Furthermore, a straight-forward concentrated blast of fire can be thrown from his fist. This usually takes about five seconds to prepare but the wait is worth it, the damage output is about two-times that of his physical blows.
Fire God: For some reason, Hoseki has a resistance to fire-type jutsu. That and heat in general doesn't bother him as much as others.
