Still, they would occasionally use technology for communication purposes but other than that, they avoided relying too much on it and her tribe will still solve all of their problems by themselves. They didn't want to be like the citizens of Republic City who seemed to be too dependent on technology that they have grown soft and lazy. They may not be Air Nomads but her tribe's teachings were focused on the human spirit and how it interacted with the world around them along with the flow of chi or life energy within each creature. They believed that a person didn't have to be an Air Nomad in order to attain inner peace and self-enlightenment as it was all depending on the person who sought them. Her tribe lived in a village in the Earth Kingdom, besides a lush forest just hours away from Ba Sing Se. They were not that far from civilization that they were considered as a remote tribe yet not too far from nature so they would always be reminded of their duty to protect the planet and its creations. Her tribe was often on the frontlines who stopped greedy corporations from cutting down too many trees for their businesses and they were also the ones who made sure the streams and rivers will always be clear and clean for the animals. The chief of her tribe was one of the high-ranking members of the Order of the White Lotus along with her mother, a society aimed at seeking the essence of beauty, sharing knowledge to the world, and serving as the finder, protector, and trainer to the Avatar. Additionally, Hinra was also the youngest child of the chief and had two older brothers before she came along. As a member of the White Lotus and as the chief of her tribe, Hinra's father was admired by many and idolized by her brothers. Hinra felt really lucky and blessed to be raised in such a loving and nurturing family who supported and cared for each other in times of need. Even as a young girl, Hinra had been a loner who didn't interact much with her peers and was just fine in being with herself. She only enjoyed the company of those closest to her and those she considered as part of her family but other than that, she was seen as cold and distant by those who tried to interact with her. There was nothing wrong about finding contentment in being alone but her parents feared that she might grow old alone on her own with no one to rely on. They didn't want to force her to do something she's not comfortable in doing, they just wished they could think of something to help her with it. Hinra's parents then decided to employ her to become one of the members of the White Lotus to help them find the next Avatar. Though it could be potentially dangerous and she will sure to be met with various obstacles along the way, they believed that this will be a life-changing experience for Hinra so she can learn more about the world around her and she can grow more as a human being. They also believed that she will surely meet people she will form connections to so her known family will not just be limited to her parents and brothers. In finding the Avatar, they hoped that she will find herself too. [/hider]
