Sarcasm passed by uncommented on, a subject that Korax was still working on when it came to other species. A particularly tricky subject, especially since Humans used it so often. For now, it listened silently as the Captain answered its initial query. 

Its head tilted slightly, a sign of confusion as Nicholas made his interesting observation on some of what the Starbase had to offer. 'This one thought that humans considered rodents to be unsatisfactory nutrient sources," it replied. "Why then would someone choose to sell it?" As much as Nicholas might want it, the first Mate could not simply forget the question had ever been asked. His memory was not like that of a computer, to be edited and deleted so easily. 

That left the question the Captain had followed it with. Korax thought about it for a moment or two, balancing obligations and things that it needed to do against what might happen while the two of them were on the station. As the Captain had noted, the starbase team was perfectly capable of handling damage such as this. There was no reason to get in their way.

So having considered the offer, it made its decision. "Very well," it agreed. This one will accompany you." It might allow it to know the Captain better, and that was a positive. For now, it prepared to follow Nicholas wherever he decided they should go.
