As he did, Salem’s grass tore out of the ground just as it reached the mage’s mask. It looked down at the offending plant growth and immediately it withered and crumbled. Victor kicked the door open on his third try, surprisingly heavy for a wooden door, but it flew past the flower and the entire cottage shuddered with the force. Lord Peiron looked on apathetically but turned away, letting out a single huff at the sight. The mage heard it and stiffened and his mask changed from sad to furious. He gave the cottage his full attention after a brief flick of his wand towards the vampire. He pointed at the door inside and a torrent of green light flashed past Victor. The door trembled and the leaves and branches bust out, rapidly covering the sword and flower. Meanwhile, the vampire froze for a second. It’s mask turned from happy to horrified to agony in a few flashes and long, thorny vines burst out of its chest, its limbs, it’s mouth and sprung at Salem, intent on tearing him to pieces.

Maddie returned the smile Amaris gave her with one of her own. Her attention shifted back to the dealer as he continued on and she cocked her head. A blade that hasn’t been used in a long time though it’s owner loves it and is skilled in its use. They’ve killed an equal number of people with the sword as with their words. Maddie frowned thoughtfully at the Countess’ question. “I’m not sure I see it any other way than literally? It seems straightforward enough. Who killed as much with their authority as they did with a sword? But I guess that is the trick of these challenges.” Maddie sighed. “To me, it suggests anyone who was alive before the treaty, eliminating anyone in the academy. I’d also like to think it eliminates the Sinnenodels, who dislike physical violence, and the Astorios, who don’t bother with niceties.” Maddie ventured.
