This story began over a decade ago...
...with a fifteen year old child getting abducted from a small town in the United States. Like a science fiction novel or comic book the child grew up in space being taken from planet to planet among dozens of other slaves before finally coming into his own. He now had freedom, as well as a star cruiser, and he performs good deeds as often as he causes trouble. His given name was Nathaniel. He now calls himself Nightstar. Roughly two years ago a human child recently orphaned developed abilities granting him power over machines. In the same car accident that took the lives of his parents, the boy suffered head trauma that unlocked psionic abilities within him. This child was also abducted from a small town somewhere in the United States. The alien slave trader responsible for the abductions, known only as Trader, didn’t count on an associate stabbing him in the back and taking the child. The feral giant Garf and the boy haven’t separated since. The child has come into his own much sooner than Nightstar, and with his power and abilities goes by the moniker… the Machinist. On the planet of Niagus in the Blue Sun Galaxy, the water breathing humanoids were dying out after a land dwelling dark sorcerer polluted the seas in search of a mystical blue gemstone. Over half the population was dead within a matter of weeks. E’onandru lost his family and swore revenge on the magical marauder. After attacking the sorcerer’s ship, E’on found the artifact after being left for dead in the polluted waters. The gemstone burned itself into his chest granting him power, so it was more a case of the gemstone finding him. The sorcerer, known only as Bloodstone, managed to escape the planet with his life. E’on knew the fight wasn’t over. The broken trident wielding fish man took the name Akheilos, the name his people gave the grim reaper of their religion. She survived the hellish pits of the Brimstone Galaxy. Once a former slave of the alien Trader, she was now the highest paid mercenary in ten space sectors. She’s been hired to take out world leaders. She’s been known to make the impossible quite possible. There are governments in the Brimstone Galaxy that go silent when her name is even mentioned. She’s an empath with super strength and a sucker for big guns. She has many skills and as many titles, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. The Star Killer. The God Slayer. The Big Gun Goddess. She’s been called a ‘Savage Seductress’. The Amazon of Arkonia… she is Rayvin Andromeda. The Planetary Alliance was already in good standings with the technopath from Earth after purchasing the designs for his universal translators, what the Machinist called Echos. The rest of the team, put together to combat a crime syndicate, was easy enough to assemble. Garf came along with the Machinist and would be additional muscle as well as protection for the boy. Nightstar was recently on the wrong side of the law in the Blue Sun Galaxy and was released from the penal planet [it’s actually a giant satellite] with the agreement he would help deal with the universe spanning criminal empire. The Solar Cross Syndicate connected the criminal empires of four galaxies including the Blue Sun Galaxy, the Brimstone Galaxy, the Crimson Nebula, as well as the Milky Way Galaxy. The syndicate included the dark sorcerer Bloodstone, so naturally Akheilos jumped at the chance to join the Alliance sponsored group of misfits. After a new star cruiser and over two million in pan-galactic credits were promised as payment, Andromeda completed the team. ---------------------- Cosmic Odyssey is a project I’ve had in mind that has gone through many changes over time. After my family wanted to do something like D&D with stats and original characters we came up with the space theme and aliens including making a character out of our cat as a secondary for my son. The stats and enemies took me longer than I thought, but now I’ve had time to develop more of a story and system for missions with types of missions somewhat based on the Destiny franchise. While the RP itself is closed I’m not opposed to opening up the universe once it gets going and more of the story is laid out. For anyone reading and/or commenting please keep everything PG-13 as my son turns 11 in August. He’s advanced fast in school and despite his age is currently on the third Hunger Games book. So now… on to the stat system recap! LOL The stats are mostly for the battling. While we're still telling a story from our heroes POV, the battles will give each scene more weight when we're put in situations we can barely overcome if at all. Players control their characters once I set up the battles as well as the enemies you fight to a degree. If any fights are too one sided I'll post using the enemies more to level the playing field. Health will reset AFTER battles end and the game moves forward. Here's a breakdown of how the system works:
The stats for this game will include: I.Q. - (how strong your characters are mentally, for example Brainiac would have a pretty high I.Q. where a rookie's would be less. Average human/alien would be 2.) IQ will determine if your Signature move is worth double [IQ set at 1-5] or triple [IQ set at 6-10] hp. Strength - (1-5 has -1 damage, 6-10 has -2 damage) Average human strength would be set at 2, only characters with heightened or super strength should increase higher! EDIT: However, one could view your strength as the strength of your attacks! Speed - (1-3 has 3 attacks per post, 4-7 has 4 attacks available, 8-10 has 5 attacks) Speed NOW also effects Defense in the same way Attack is effected by Strength. 1-5 speed regains +1 health, 6-10 is +2 health. Attack - (number of attacks) Each player will have melee attacks that are not included on your attack stat including basic punches and kicks. Attack is for things like heat vision, throw, generic super speed attack, etc... Defense - (number of defense moves, each can be used twice per battle. If your defense is 2 and the battle lasts 4 posts you can use 4 defense moves. If the battle rages on for 7 posts you are still limited to only 4 defensive moves total in that case. Defense can't block a signature attack!) Health - (IQ+strength+speed+defense) Health is also reset each battle! *Signature moves awarded at Level 3 do double or triple damage depending on IQ. The attack/defense itself should include your superhuman/alien ability. The only defense against a signature attack is a signature defense that can also be a move based on your superhuman ability. Signature Defense is also the only defense you can use to help another player directly in-game from an enemy attack be it a regular attack or signature attack! At the moment you can only have one or the other, Signature Attack or Signature Defense. Now... that's not a lot of info at all really. As far as stats go, I know once you have 6 points on strength some of you might ask "what's the point of having strength or speed any higher?" and the simple answer is writing limitations. If a character like Superman has 6 strength and a God like Zeus walks by with a strength of 8, in the context of the story Zeus would of course be viewed as stronger. Same thing applies for speed. If we go beyond Level 10 and continue developing the characters we could also set new limits increasing strength and speed as well as IQ. Power Class - you earn a stat point/level for every 5 posts in-character. Level 1 - 16 points - 1-5 posts Level 2 - 17 points - 6-10 posts Level 3 - 18 points (plus signature attack or defense!) - 11-15 posts Level 4 - 19 points - 16-20 posts Level 5 - 20 points - 21-25 posts Level 6 - 21 points - 26-30 posts Level 7 - 22 points - 31-35 posts Level 8 - 23 points - 36-40 posts Level 9 - 24 points - 41-45 posts Level 10 - 25 points 46-50 posts If the game lasts long enough, and it might, we'll go beyond Level 10 and probably continue on to Level 15. Boss stats will be Level 15 to Level 20 with stats between 30-35 points making a team effort to defeat the enemy a must.
Here's an example of a stat card. Superman, although he should be a Level 15 or 20, is a Level 10 enemy with only a few of his powers and abilities shown in his attacks and defenses lists. This should show that even if you have a ton of powers, unless you place the stat points in attack or defense, you can only use the attacks and defenses listed while in battle. Superman is in the second strength class and in the second or third speed class. Had he been a Level 15 or 20 he'd have had the freeze breath and other classic attacks.

I’m going to separate the heroes and villains stat cards as well as make the enemies stats post separated by missions. It’ll make sense once it’s finished, but I’m still in the process of saving files and saving certain cards together in groups. Should have everything sorted out by the weekend. Just wanted to get something up for the fam to look at for now.
GM Notes 7/1/2020 - Everyone will have to do their individual character sheets to further flesh out the characters. I’m working on one for my guy E’on to use as a template.
-O-
