[@Hawthorne] The gifts are essentially magic and they came about once god gave them to humanity. And on the context of the different types of magic, there are some that do come from different types of 'planes' but I'll go a little more in-depth on that soon. And specifically on Divine Magic it may be that the gift allows their user to pull some energies from the Heavenly realm (where God resides ) and like classical RPG's light, healing, or Divine Magic tends to be more potent against undead or vampires.
