The Karata, originally from the mist, focused heavily on the art of swordsmanship. Even more so than many other clans. Jutsu was of course encouraged, but it would be up to each individual clan member as to how he or she would tie it in to their sword style.

While known in the Mist for their prowess with kenjutsu, the Karata had another ability which earned them status within Kirigakure. Their eyes were particularly malleable when it came to chakra and dojutsu. Though lacking abilities on their own, they could be adapted fairly easily to accept the abilities of other known clans. Kirigakure saw an opportunity with this, and attempted to use them to create an all new dojutsu to counter the Leaf's famous Dojutsu clans. After experimentation during the shinobi wars, they were partially successful in mimicking some of the Sharingan, but ultimately considered a failure by the Mist. Despite the Kirigakure command's opinion, the Karata Eye's developed abilities became the pride of the clan, and they continued developing over the generations.

This new Kekkai Genkai however would ultimately be the Clan's downfall, as Kirigakure grew to distrust those with bloodline abilities immensely. The Karata fell during the culling of the clans, with all having been believed to be cut down and left to the crows.[/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]

Having grown up in the Mist Village, more direct dialogue was the norm, particularly in his clan. Words meant to be as precise and pointed as their blades. He tries to be friendly and gentle most of the time, but when he gets into a fight he is very focused and competitive, aiming to win, for a loss means death. Social situations can be quite difficult, not due to being him shy, but more because of naivete and misinterpreting people's expressions. Often he takes things too literally, and not understanding slang terms most of the time unless they are quite obvious.

A private hobby that he doesn't share much is his talent for drawing. Rather bashful about it, he is skilled enough to easily be a skilled manga artist if his story writing wasn't absolutely terrible.[/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent][indent][color=0EBFE9]Living in the Bloody Mist was far from easy. Training was brutal, and most didn't survive. Half alone being eliminated just for the survivors to graduate as genin. Rashiku grew up in this life, with the only difference being that his own clan's fellow genin managed to survive the tests somewhat more often than other clans. His own test taught Rashiku just how quickly battles could go. A battle with a fellow student that specialized in spiked earth jutsu. It was difficult, close, but lasted less than ten seconds. The opening burst forth with a volley of spikes made from the ground. Rashiku managed to parry most of them while running in, but had two of the smaller ones pierced into his shoulder. His opponent tried to bring forth another volley, but Rashiku reached him before he could, slashing his leg. The boy dropped to his knee, keeping his hand seal and completing it, making another spike raise straight out of the ground to spear Rashiku. That would have been it, but his blade was already swinging again downwards. As the spike began to pierce into Rashiku's thigh, his Blade cleaved down into the other boy's skull, ending the duel instantly with the spike losing form. Rashiku limped away, lucky that he didn't have permanent damage to his leg.

Being a genin of the Mist did not last long. Barely a month after his graduation, Kirigakure sent its armed forces to eliminate all clans that possessed Kekkai Genkai. The fires across the village and the outskirts lit the rainy night, while blood stained the soil. Before the Karata could gather their members to escape, explosions rocked the compound. Tags, Bombs, and fire jutsu erupted through the walls, with the Mist forces storming in right after. Even with multiple members of the clan being Jounin, the sheer number of enemies soon turned the scene into a gore-strewn slaughter. Rashiku only survived after his father jumped into multiple kunai laced with tags that had been thrown at the boy. [b]"Run..."[/b] With a final look to his son, Ransu tackled the thrower and pressed them both into the back wall, exploding and creating an opening. The hardest part was going through the hole in the wall, covered in blood and pieces of his father, but with the other ways all leading to more screams of battle and death, the boy ran out and escaped into the night.

For the entire night, Rashiku ran, avoiding the armies as he tried to reach the border. Using his chakra sensing abilities to stay away from any other signatures. As he reached the forest border, he couldn't keep his sensing up any further, his chakra exhausted. And moments after that, a group of shinobi dropped down infront of him, weapons at the ready. The boy attempted to fight them, but he was defeated very quickly and knocked unconscious. Upon awakening, he found himself bound to a tree, with four people infront of him. "He's awake..." Getting an easier look, he could see that their uniforms were not of the Kirigakure army. It became clear that they were scouts of another group as they questioned him, asking what had happened in Kirigakure that the army had mobilized against its citizens. Truthfully he didn't know much, but he saw no reason to lie at this point, and told him of the attack on his clan, and others from what he could see. Certain clans were targeted, though as to why, he was unsure.

He fully expected to be killed by these scouts, once they had what they wished to know. But instead, the leader of them asked if he would be going back to the village. Rashiku adamantly said no, that he would probably try to hide elsewhere, never to return. At hearing that, the scout group discussed among themselves, before offering him sanctuary within the Leaf Village instead. For a moment his first instinct was to decline, with Konoha having been labeled as his enemy, but the thought soon turned around. Kirigakure was his enemy now, who destroyed his clan and family. And Konoha was their most hated enemy. The boy nodded and agreed, telling them that he'd join Konoha and their shinobi force.[/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent][indent][color=0EBFE9]Karata Eye - The Karata clan naturally has a strong affinity towards dojutsu, and when the clan was still in high status in Kirigakure, they attempted to create a power which could rival or surpass the Sharingan of the Konoha's Uchiha. The end result was that they were unable to replicate the hidden powers of the higher sharingan, but instead were able to surpass it in the use of perception.

A user can put chakra into his eyes and focus on everything he perceives, and also slow down all of his senses. This technique makes the world seem like it is moving in slow motion, allowing him to react as efficiently as possible to whatever situation he notices. However, even if he can see and hear, or smell what is happening, this ability does not increase his bodily speed. If an attack is fast enough, he will still see it coming, but may not have time to effectively avoid it.

The Karata Eye also provides the ability to sense chakra upon focusing, along with the strength of the signature. The perception even can detect chakra through solid objects like a wall. It cannot differentiate between specific chakra signatures, or the element of the chakra. It can only sense the presence of, and how powerful it is. Though, the user can sometimes guess a specific person by recognizing their exact chakra strength. But only if they know said person well.
This makes it very difficult for enemies to sneak up on a user of Karata Eye, as even non-shinobi have weak signatures the give their position away. While this jutsu is active, the user's eyes glow an intense, bright blue, like their normal color except as if neon. This makes a user very easy to spot if he tries to use it while sneaking.

While Rashiku has not learned how to do this yet, some of his fellow clan members had developed further additions. Such as nightvision, thermal, and others.[/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent][indent][color=0EBFE9]Swordsmanship - Rashiku is quite skilled with bladed weaponry. Particularly in the sword arts that originate from his clan.

Dexterity and Precise Movements - Highly skilled control of one's own body is one of the main methods taught in Karata swordsmanship, as the slightest shift of angle is the difference between a blow parried, and one that gets through one's guard and sinks into their shoulder. Rashiku has a lot of precise control over where he wishes to move, quickly, stopping right where he wants to. It also extends to acrobatics, but usually he prefers to stay on the ground.

Self-training - He is able to teach himself techniques very proficiently. He almost works best this way, provided he has the necessary tools and instructions to learn.

Drawing - Rashiku could potentially make a successful alternate career out of drawing manga if his story-writing abilities were any good. He frequently draws in secret, with varying amounts of ecchi.[/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]

Makes a sudden burst of electricity that is expelled onto the next item touched. Normally, this is used to give someone an extra shock along with a punch to the face.

Jiki-uchi (Opportunity Strike)
A focusing technique for determining the best place to strike at after an opponent creates an opening in their defense. Can only be used while the opponent is attacking and their strikes are being dodged (not blocked) within striking range. 

Kenjutsu: Iaido (Sword Art: Iaido)
The user performs a slash after quickly drawing his sword,a maneuver using momentum to gain power named Iaido and the basics of the iaijutsu style. 

Karata no Ken no Sutansu - Attouteki na Kougeki (Karata Sword Stance - Overpowering Assault)
A extremely aggressive stance taught in the Karata family. Mostly for use against other weapon-users, the strikes that come from this stance are designed to overwhelm the opponent with continuous hard strikes, designed to break through the enemy's guard or just cleave through them.
The form uses sword swings that have a lot of momentum, so every strike has some pull back (the user bringing back the weapon further to get more power in the swing), leaving the user open to counter-attack quite often, at least until the speed picks up enough where getting a strike in becomes very difficult.
What makes the technique successful, is the increasing furiosity in which the strikes are delivered. Every hit seems to have the force of a battering ram behind it, throwing opponents off balance and making them difficult to keep guarding against. Another intimidating factor is that each strike is designed to flow into the next, making the attacks just a continuous, overwhelming assault, getting faster the longer it goes, which is where it gets its name.

Karata no Ken no Sutansu - Kanpekina ito Tekina Ugoki (Karata Sword Stance - Flawless Deliberate Movement)
This is the main Stance used in the Karata clan as it tends to be the most useful in majority of combat situations. The stance focuses on the user making many, short, quick, and most of all, tactical, movements. In this state every move is meant to serve a purpose, and put the user into an advantageous position. Most of the time this involves quick sidesteps, dodging attacks in a way that puts an opponent off balance, and the very occasional spin in order to rotate around the target.
The concept also goes into the attacks made in this state as well. Each strike is supposed to serve a purpose, either to strike at an opening, or to create one.

Meant for easier deflection of projectiles, along with harsher wounds inflicted on enemies. This makes the sword noticeably heavier than a standard one of equal size. The length puts it just above the classification of Katana and into Odachi, the blade in total being three and a half feet long.

Rashiku also uses Kunai for ranged attacks, sometimes employing explosive tags along with them. More frequently, he uses flash tags as a distraction and cover for his movements, as he doesn't like using the truly explosive ones. While he doesn't enjoy the blasts, their destructive power and applications cannot be ignored.[/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent][indent][color=0EBFE9]Rashiku's fighting style focuses on speed, tactics, and getting in a strike at the perfect opportunity. He is forward and aggressive, but also defensive in the aggression. That means he will attack in order to make the opponent attack, giving him an opportunity for them to make a mistake for him to counter.

Most of his abilities focus on the excellent use of swordsmanship. Body Flicker technique helps a lot with evasive maneuvering and getting in a strike where his opponent doesn't suspect it. While Rashiku specializes in close-combat, he knows very well how to use kunai to his advantage. [/color][/indent][/indent][/indent]
