[color=gray]Pele, despite being a strong swimmer and an island goddess, is actually terrified of deep water, so much so that she exclusively takes showers rather than baths. She has not swum in any large bodies of water in a very long time and you would be hard-pressed to get her to do so. This may or may not be related to the long-standing conflict between her and her sister Namakaikahai. On the same note, she fears facing her sister again, the two not having seen one another since the gods became earthbound.[/color]

It was through her mastery over the world's molten core that she wrought the Hawaiian Islands into being, forging them from the lava that ruptured forth from the mouths of her volcanoes. Those who worship Pele speak of her as Madame Pele or Tutu Pele, while others know her as Ka wahine ‘ai honua, ‘the woman who devours the land’.[/quote][/indent][/indent]

[indent][indent][quote]Peles initial reaction to being made earthbound was fury and anger. The goddess had never expected that she would leave Hawaii. It was her world. When she’d created the islands she’d kinda just figured she’d stay there for eternity. Afterall, who in their right mind would go anywhere else - it was paradise! 

But alas, she had no choice, and was forced to move along with the Colossus. As Pele slowly began to spend more time with the humans, she found herself relishing in their world. And whilst some gods used their time productively, she spent many years just having fun - dancing, partying, experiencing. Humans were more interesting than she had thought! Yet the only problem was that as she did not age, Pele found herself constantly having to make new friends & leave her old ones behind. To her surprise, she began to feel lonely, something which she had rarely experienced as a goddess. This was a new and rather unwanted feeling, one that she was entirely uncomfortable with. 

Being dragged from place the place at least allowed Pele to explore new locations, something she had relished doing since childhood. It was fun to experience different cities and people. That and she liked the funny accents. Until Seattle. Pele did not like Seattle. It was cold, rainy, and had [i]no[/i] volcanos (of course this wasn’t exclusive to Seattle but still - no volcanoes!?). Restless & grumpy, she was  forced to focus her attention elsewhere. Pele became intensely interested in cars, finding their power and speed thrilling. She began working on fixing them up, eventually starting a job at a small but tight-knit workshop in downtown Seattle. It is through this that she was introduced to the worlds of drag and street racing. This suited Pele down to the tee, the goddess finding herself thriving in the competitive and lively sports. True to form, street racing has landed her in trouble with the law on more than one occasion - not that this really concerns her.

At present, she has mixed feelings about her current life. Although she enjoys it, as each year passes, she becomes increasingly concerned that maybe she will never get to go back to Hawaii. Maybe they will be stuck in this cycle for eternity... Pele tries not to ponder on this too much but she would likely jump at any opportunity to get it all back, if one was presented to her.
