“Yes, if the civilization receives visits from other worlds, I would expect such places to be marked. But if not, it is entirely possible that not entering these ruins is so obvious to the entire population that they don’t feel the need to place warning signs there. On the other hand, they would hardly force us to land here if that was the case. Anyway, in some cultures literally anything can be seen as ‘sacred’ so let’s just try to not break things or take them away. Speaking of,” she pierced Doctor Jenkins with a stern look, “we should be extra careful about capturing any live animals.” Jenkins frowned, but didn’t make any comments. As Robin spoke, Elm just nodded, completely agreeing with her. She smiled as the cup Robin threw landed safely in the trash can. “You are right, doctor Pearson. Time to get started.” With these words Elm got up and left the meeting room. ----- When finally leaving the ship, Elm took a deep breath. All scans assured them that the atmosphere was completely safe, very similar to what they had on the Prize. But sensors could not tell them about the beautiful light smell of grass after rain which reminded Elm of her home planet. The view was nothing short of breathtaking. The bright blue trees around the clearing seemed so tall it was beyond Elm’s understanding how they do not break in the slightest wind. Not that there was any wind at the moment. She took a few seconds to crouch to closely observe the luminescent moss sprawling on the ground, but got up quickly, knowing that she could lose herself in thoughts very easily. And there was much more to be seen here. Only one out of the three suns was currently hovering over the scenery, but a second one was just beyond the horizon, ready to shine even more light on the ground. To Elm it felt amazing and she made sure to expose as much of her bark-like skin to the sunlight as possible (and as appropriate). The temperature rose up a bit, but it was pleasantly warm. “At least we won’t be cold,” she smiled. “All right guys, let’s head out.” Double-checking the right direction on her tablet just to be sure, she started walking across the clearing towards the edge of the mesmerising forest where ruins were located. She made sure that her assistant was taking pictures of the moss and roots on the ground, that were glowing in various shades of blue, slightly changing colors as the team stepped on them.
