Build: She has an elfin build, full of inhuman grace and poise. At a quick glance it is hard to tell that Fel is anything other than a particularly attractive elven maiden. Eyes: Fel has dark green eyes, bright emeralds that shine with quiet joy. Hair: In spring and summer, her hair is a shade of forest green, adorned with flowers and leaves. In fall, Fel's hair turns a golden brown or scarlet, like the leaves of an oak tree. In winter, Fel's hair fades until it is snow white. When permitted to be free, Fel's hair would cascade down in thick brown waves, but she takes care to keep her locks tied into a careful knot at the nape of her neck, secured with a pair of carefully carved wooden pins she acquired early in her travels. Skin Tone: Fel has delicate features and soft skin, that like her hair changes color with the seasons. In spring and summer, the young dryad's skin radiates the warmth of sunlight and is a light tan color. In fall, her skin darkens to blend with the autumn colors of the forest. In winter, Fel's skin is a pale white, indistinguishable from snow or bone. Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: Personal Style: Unlike many other dryads, Fel dresses modestly and wraps herself in layers of soft, loose fabric. She favors long skirts and dresses that reach well past her ankles. Uninterested in metal jewelry, Fel styles her person with flowers, leaves, and interesting pieces of wood. However, despite her education in the complex ways of the civilized creatures of the material plane Fel is not overly fussed with the idea of clothing, leading to awkward moments when she forgets to put on pants.

Personality:
Intelligent * Resolute * Alluring * Idealistic * Hopeful * Elusive Relationship Status: Can you marry a tree? Questionnaire: What first impression do you make? "People say I'm pretty, whatever that really means. They tend to stare at me. They think I'm an elf. We look pretty similar, so it doesn't bother me. Not really. Maybe a little bit. But they can't help it, can they? It's not like most of them have met a dryad before. Most dryads tend to stay near their bonded tree." What are you like in a high stress situation? "I bend with the wind, as the branches of even the greatest trees bend when caught in a storm. To be rigid, to stiffen, is to crack." What are your best and worst qualities? "My best quality is that I am kind and polite. There are some crew members, who shall of course remain unnamed, that have called me naive. They call me a hopeless optimist. Sometimes they call me childish. They say I don't understand the galaxy or how it works. But they're wrong. I understand. I really do. They're just bitter and angry. They're just wrong. I'm wise, I promise! Just not always when it comes to people...mortals on the material plane are so strange. You have so many interesting ideas. Like pants. Pants are fun! Really, they're a lovely invention. But be honest, pants don't make much sense when you really think about them, now do they?" What is something about yourself that you would never admit to anyone? "I miss home. I miss my tree. D- Don't get me wrong adventuring is a lot of fun. I love the ship. I love the crew. I love seeing new places. I love eating new things. I wouldn't go back to Shyllshara, not yet at least. But sometimes I miss home. I miss the forest. I miss the pure rivers and untouched wilderness. I miss the ancient ruins. I miss the funny archeoleogists that come to study the ruins and end up lost in the jungles . I miss the plants. I miss the animals. I miss my tree. Oh, right. I said that already. I love that tree. She's so old and wise. And she's funny. Did I tell you that? You wouldn't believe all the jokes that a thousand year grand oak can come up with..." What are your dreams? "I dream of forests, great seas of green nestled across the stellar oceans. I dream of gentle winds and sunny days. I dream of undiscovered planets and adventure. I dream of old friends and new friends. I dream of soft rain and warm beds. I dream of home and I dream of my tree." How do you want to be seen by others? "I want people to respect me for my talents. I want someone, anyone, someone please, to compliment me on my intelligence and not my beauty. I'm a powerful spellcaster, why can't people just recognize that? I'm not just eye candy. I'm not like all the other dryads. I'm not here just to ensnare some human with my charms. I'm the ship's navigator. I'm a great navigator. Do you know how many times I've sailed a ship through an asteroid belt without so much as a scratch? Do you know how many quasars I've circumnavigated? I've plotted courses across more galaxies than most people will ever see, but all anyone wants to talk about is the flowers in my hair or what I'm doing after my shift is over." How do you see yourself? "I'm just me? I'm a dryad. I'm one with nature. I talk to trees. I love animals. I'm a spellcaster. I'm a navigator. What's that? Oh, that just means that I guide ships across the interstellar oceans. I'm a good person. I'm a very good pirate. At least that's what the captain tells me. She's always honest." I'm a navigator of the interstellar seas. Do you tend to make snap judgements, or stop and think about things? "I like to think things over. My people live for thousands of years, so there's no need to rush. Unless the captain tells me to. Sometimes she yells. Usually when someone is chasing us. Mostly when they're shooting at us. It doesn't bother me though. I've learned that there are schedules on the material plane. The captain has attempted to teach me about them, but I'm afraid I don't have a knack for calendars. You mortals creatures are so interested in time. And clocks! You love clocks. The captain loves clocks. I find it very endearing. What haunts you? "The moonlight orgies. I- I don't think that's what a branch is meant to be used for..." What is your philosophy on life? "Be a good person. Don't hurt others, not unless you really have to. Protect Nature. Protect the trees. Protect the plants. Protect the animals. Balance is important, but we have to do good. We have to make the galaxy a better place. We have to try at least. That's my philosophy. That's what I care about." Habits:

Collects odd, usually worthless things, such as branches from each forest she visits
Fond of giving people new names based on her whims
Forgetful of personal space, prone to touching others
Hobbies:

Gardening
Writing
Reading
Dancing
Music
Fears:

Fire
Imprisonment
Losing her connection with Nature
Likes:

People
Exciting Music
Fanciful Stories
Plants and animals
Exploring the stellar seas
Dislikes:

Violence
Destruction
Wastefulness
Rudeness
Boring clothes

Information:
General Skills:

Calligraphy - Fel is quite handy with a pen or brush and she takes great pride in her calligraphy.
Navigation - For one so young, Fel is an alarmingly gifted navigator. Her methods, which include casting acorns to plot the course of the Wayward Maiden, can however best be described as unorthodox.
Cartography - Part and parcel for her trade as a navigator, Fel has mastered the vital art of interstellar cartography.
Herbalism - As a walking and talking plant, Fel has a vast and intimate knowledge of what plants to use to create various remedies and potions.
Blessings of the Forest - A child of the forest and a daughter of the trees, Fel is one with Nature, and can survive in hostile environments that are beyond the skill of most to weather. As a fey tied to Nature itself, she needs only a small amount of water and the light of a star to nourish herself.
Woodland Stealth - Fel moves quietly and with light steps, vanishing into the forests seemingly at will.
Lore Arcana - Having been taught by the oldest dryads, Fel is knowledgeable about ancient lore concerning spells, magic items, eldritch symbols, magical traditions, the planes of existence, and the inhabitants of those planes.
Can speak, read, and write in Sylvan, Elven and Common
Magical/Speciality Skills:

Nature Magic - Drawing on the divine essence of the forests and Nature itself, Fel can cast spells to shape that essence to her will. Her magic draws upon her devotion and attunement to Nature rather than any divine or arcane source.
Fey Charm - Gifted with the peerless charm that only the Fey possess, Fel is able to magically charm creatures with her visage alone. Any charmed creatures will regard her as a trusted friend to be heeded and protected. While ensorcelled by the dryad, any affected beings will view her requests or actions in the most favorable way possible. However, each time the unfortunate creature suffers physical harm there is a chance that the magic of the spell can be dispelled.
Magic Resistance - As a fey creature, Fel is resistant to spells and magical effects.
Speak with Beasts and Plants - Fel can communicate with beasts and plants as if she shared a common language with them.
Tree Stride - Using her connection with trees, Fel can step magically into one living tree within her reach and emerge from a second living tree within 60 ft. of the first tree, appearing in an unoccupied space within 5 ft. of the second tree. Both trees must be large enough to fit her inside.
Fey Sight - A creature of the Feywild, Fel is gifted with vision that pierces even the darkness of space.
Inventory:

Acorn of Far Travel - An oak acorn, harvested from her bonded oak tree, the enchanted acorn preserves Fel's connection with this ancient tree, affording the young dryad all the benefits of the forest no matter where she finds herself. Most importantly, the acorn permits Fel to travel thousands of stellar leagues from her tree without growing sick. Were she to bond with another tree during her travels she would no longer need to carry this acorn with her.
Amulet of Twigs - Around her neck Fel wears a strange amulet of twigs, constructed from small, delicate pieces of wood she has gathered from all manner of trees and forests.
Birchbark Tome - To record her many thoughts and observations about her companions, Fel keeps a birchbark tome full of a seemingly endless number of pages.
Scimitar - Although she has no real idea how to use it, Fel carries a fine scimitar sheathed on her hip.

[img][/img]

History:
Summary: "My story? Mmm, well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to tell you. It's a pretty normal story. I never had a father, not in the way you probably understand it. I was given form from the Feywild by a grand oak tree. It called to me across the planes, I heard it singing to me. It was lovely. The tree told me about your plane of existence. It told me of humans. It told me of elves. It told me of all the wonderful, interesting creatures traveling across the stars. The tree...my tree offered me a union. It promised to protect me. It promised to teach me. It wanted to travel, it wanted to see the stars, but a tree can't travel, not easily at least. A dryad can though. Not as easily as you can, but we can travel, it just takes some preparation... Childhood? Mmm, I was a child once, yes. However, I didn't start of tiny, like many creatures here do. I emerged from the Feyworld fully formed and shaped by grand oak tree. Oh, I was a young and simple thing! There was so much about the material plane that I didn't understand. There was so much that I had to learn! But my tree was a patient teacher. She had seen many creatures pass beneath her branches over the eons. She had watched and she had listened. She was wise and she knew much. In those early years I didn't range far beyond the terel of my tree. Oh, you don't know what a terel is? A terel is the sacred domain of any ancient tree. It's a big circle. Inside of that big circle a dryad is connected to the their tree. It's...it's like our house basically. Our tree isn't our house. It's us, just another part of us. Where? Oh, goodness! I forgot to mention the name of my home planet. I grew up on Shyllshara. I met my first humanoids there. Elves! They were so pretty! And they were so nice. I look kind of like an elf. They were archaeologists studying the ruins on Shyllshara. They were from the United Planets Science Academy I didn't want to ruin their fun so I didn't tell them too much. My tree said it was best if they figured it out by themselves. She said they tended to get overly excited. She didn't want them to worry too much. They helped me learn so much. Like clothes. Who knew that clothes were even a thing? And there are so many colors! And you can change them whenever you want! I was never like the other dryads on Shyllshara. I wasn't obsessed with beauty, at least not most of the time. And I didn't beguile moral creatures with my visage and keep them as romantic slaves for centuries. It seemed a bit rude. Ahem...sorry, I got distracted. Where was I? Ah, yes, my childhood! I spent a couple of years visiting the archeologists on Shyllshara. I got to know them. I learned their wonderful customs. And I began to venture further away from my tree with them. She wanted me to spend time with them. She encouraged me, even when it was hard to understand the strange ways of creatures here. See! She gave me this acorn. It keeps me connected to her. I can hear her if I listen...even now. The elves gave me gifts too! My first pair of robes. My first...bra? Yes, the funny looking thing you put on your chest. They taught me so many things. They taught me about clothes. They taught me about table manners. They taught me about kissing and other private things. Most importantly, they told me about the stars and they showed me their wonderful ship. It was a simple space schooner, but it was beautiful. One of the sailors even taught me how to steer it. I loved space travel the second I tried it. I loved the feel of the deck beneath my feet as we sailed past the atmosphere of Shyllshara and darted across the dark skies. I loved seeing the stars. I still love seeing the stars. Eventually the archaeologists and the sailors said they had to leave, they were going back to Lyananor. I wanted to go with them. I wanted to see the university. I wanted to see a new planet. And I wanted to meet some of these humans they were always talking about. Humans sounded fun. So with the blessings of my tree I went with them. I brought my acorn of course. I'd be very sick without it. Lyananor was amazing! The cities float! The cities float in the SKY! It's wonderful, beautiful, and so much fun. The university was pretty enough too. But it was a bit boring. I didn't like the classes very much. Lectures are very boring. I spent most of my time in the library. There are books there! Lots of books! Oh, you know about libraries? Yes, well, I'd never seen a library before and the libraries of the United Planets University are endless. I learned so much about your history. Some of it was sad. However, I kept reading, my tree said sadness was part of life. I didn't like all the mentions of war though. I don't like violence. I met the Captain on Lyananor! And she's been my best friend ever since then. How did I meet her? Well, I had been hired by a merchant trader as navigator for his ship, the Honorable Sea Wench. The Captain was a passenger on the ship. She was touristing. Apparently it means staring at old buildings and paying a lot for local food. As it turned out, the ship had really belonged to her family for generations until the unscrupulous merchant paid some ruffians to steal it from the Captain's family in the dead of night. She had spent years searching for her family heirloom and having finally found it she knew she could not wait for the slow arm of the law to bring justice to the Captain's family and return the ship to them. Her story was very sad. It filled me with righteous fury and I could not refuse to help her. So we liberated the ship from the merchant and his crew of thugs. You should have seen the Captain. She's got a mean right hook and who knew that it was possible to kick someone in the head? It was fascinating to see her fight. It was like a dance, only with more broken bones. I helped too! Vines are very useful for restraining angry sailors. Once we had taken control of the ship we left the rest of the crew in a life raft and sailed towards new stars and safer systems. I think the Captain liked me from the start. Despite her frequent threats of marooning me on some empty planet. It was just banter and I suspect she was overwhelmed by her feelings. She's very emotional. She seemed very happy when I navigated through a solar storm. Apparently solar storms present some challenge to seasoned navigators, but I just consulted the navigational acorns I carry with me. They're very reliable. I don't know why most other navigators are so obsessed with using arcane compasses, they're not half as reliable as a good navigational acorn. Either way the Captain was very pleased with me. She invited me to join her club. It's called the Consortium. We're pirates or so she tells me. I'm not really sure what exactly that means. Piracy? Do you mean borrowing? No, I'm pretty sure piracy not strictly illegal, not if you're doing things for the right reasons. The Captain says that the laws are more like guidelines than strict rules anyways. We had some wonderful times together with our new friends from the Consortium. We sailed to so many stars and we visited so many new planets. And now we're here! On this new ship, the Wayward Maiden to continue our grand adventure!
