A spaz. A loser. A braniac. A bookworm. Carol was all of these in her past and... that hasn't much changed. Oh wait, add a few more things. An idealist! An icon! A philanthropist! A HERO! Carol is passionate, fiercely kind, outgoing and opinionated. She speaks her mind as if she's got something to prove, and she wont let her lisp, her nasally voice, or her nerdy bookworm trivia hold her back. To those who knew her a long time, this is a complete 180 from her previous introverted personality, and at times moments of stress or conflict will cause her to lose her confidence and her cool, turning her into a jibbering mess of nerves. While she is pretty bright, almost obnoxiously so from her various interests and studious mannerisms, that doesn't make her charismatic, and her social skills and leadership are a bit lacking. She's still kind of a crybaby over things that are scary, and she is completely hopeless when it comes to matters of the heart. Regardless, she is one of the sweetest, most understanding, and honest friends one could have. Above all things, she hates bullies, and she's ready to stand up for herself, and anyone else. Background: For someone that comes from a family with a bunch of odd connections to Christmas, Carol's life sure wasn't very holly jolly. Her family is from Oregon America, and had moved to Japan when she was about four as part of her mom's new position as division head for a Christmas Store franchise. Right from the get go she had a couple of problems that made her a really bad target for bullies. 1. She's always been on the small, frail side. Her red eyes and white hair made her look like an albino, but she's actually just anemic. This makes her constantly feel cold (She still wears sweaters, scarves, and mittens, even in summer time) and she gets winded easily. Being bad at sports and looking sickly does not win you friends. 2. She developed a lisp after an infection inflamed her tonsils just enough to not require surgery, but enough to give her a nasally voice and emphasis' on the 'sh' sounds. 3. Her quirk developed at the tender age of four. Two antlers appearing one day, complete with christmas tree lights and a big red nose. One kid made the connection of Rudolph. The name stuck with her all of primary school. 4. Her quirk is border line useless and everyone knew it. She might as well have been quirkless from how well she could defend herself from others with more, potent quirks. 5. She's the forth oldest of a family of nine. One of those orthodox families. Plus a busy mom and dad meant she didn't get alot of support and was commonly forgotten. 6. She read alot, did her homework, and answered the teachers question. Of course she was the class nerd, of course she was. 7. Despite being small and frail, she developed early, and developed alot. With that came alot of boy's attention and her shallow jealous 'friends' at the time began to turn against her. That was the last straw. Eventually she just stopped trying... She cut school, her grades plummeted. She went to the digital world of online forums, video games, and chat websites. It was better when you didn't see their eyes. When you didn't exist. It was better to just be forgotten. She found others like her. People that just want to disappear. They didn't have anyone, but eachother. Maybe that's why she spoke out so adamantly when someone confided in her that they wanted to end it all. Something snapped in her. All of her sorrow came pouring out. All of her heart went into one thing. Talking this stranger. This friend from across the world into living. He thanked her. His family thanked her. It felt... good. It felt good to help someone. To be noticed and thanked for it. She tried it again. Helping at a toy donation drive. A soup kitchen. A battlefield clean up. She'd get smiles. Compliments. She'd get attention and praise. It was addictive. She loved it. It made her happy. She wanted more. While she screwed up her chances with the school she was before (sudden tardiness for weeks on end would do that) her family helped her persue what she wanted. To become a hero. She wan'ts the attention, the praise. She wouldn't be accepted with her health and her quirk... except One school. Quirk:
Festive Lights
Transformation Activating the quirk generates a current of electricity through the user's body. This is signified by colored lights adorning he user's metallic antlers and lights on the cheeks and nose. These lights are tied to the user's emotional state, to include colors, brightness, and flashing. When Activated, the user has the following abilities. Energy Creation: Physical excertion and impact causes built up charge of electricity which concentrates on the top of the cranium between the dynamo like antlers. When fully charged, a physical sphere of electrically charged light, roughly the size of a marble, (Colors vary) manifests and gently floats down, clinging to any solid surface but gently attracted by metals and sources that hold electricity such as wires or batteries. At present, walking 5-6 steps will produce a single mote while running produces a mote per 2-3 steps. A wild limb movement like a punch produces one mote, while getting hit produces motes proportional to the receiving strike. So far, the motes of light have only been useful as light sources, or charging electronic devices that have batteries, such as cell phones. Energy Manipulation: The user can physically touch up these spheres/motes while others feel a minor shock when attempting to handle them. These motes of light disappear in about a minute after manifesting. Energy Transfer: The user's electrical field is capable of absorbing and redistributing electrical energy into motes. This provides some level of resistance to electrical damage, provided the source is not too strong as to override the transfer of electricity into motes. The user at this time can make several motes when handling the raw electrical components of minor devices/appliances. Other: The whole point of her quirk is that she is a walking powerplant, converting kinetic and biological energy into electric and photonic energy. My intention is to use that with her braininess to eventually have her become an inventor, when she figures that part out. The whole hero choice is kind of new to her from the start. Powering gadgets is where her quirk is meant to shine. Incidentally, the potential for support items and costumes for other classmates is a potential moment for character interaction and development.
