He’s pale as can be, and his nose and eyes are constantly red due to his rubbing. It’s hardly his fault, though; he’s allergic to a lot of stuff—pollen, peanuts, and most animals, just to list a few. While he’s not deathly allergic to any of them, it’s not pleasant having itchy eyes and runny noses all the time, and he sneezes so often he may as well call it a way of life. So by all means, blame him for not being the happiest person in the room as he adjusts his glasses and rubs his nose. It’s not like he hasn’t heard enough of those comments from his family and friends. Not so much friends, but he’s made his point. Clothing-wise, he sticks to the stuff that works. Windbreakers, hoodies, turtlenecks—the practical stuff. Most pants are a baggy on him, but that’s what belts are for, or elastic waistbands since he still fits most of his childhood clothes. As for other aesthetics, he’s not that picky. Solid, cool-toned colors are his jam, though he’s got a few bright dashes here and there in his wardrobe. Patterns and prints are messy and unnecessary, in his eyes, and tennis shoes have served him well thus far. So yeah, he’s not that picky. He just knows what works for him, and a lot of stuff doesn’t. Currently, he has on a yellow thermal-tech turtleneck that he knows but won’t admit is too bright for him. The color speaks to him, or whatever people will have him say for the questions to stop. It’s rather lightweight despite its thickness, and it’s built to both retain heat and disperse sweat, or at least the tag attached had claimed it was. Outside that is his trusty blue windbreaker, which is hooded, waterproof, and basically weather-proof. Sure he might not survive a snowstorm, but when’s the last time it snowed in Oregon? Don't answer that. Bottom-wise, he’s got on a pair of nondescript grey joggers, which are loose and, of course, water-proof. Wrapped over them are a pair of clunky hiking boots he’d insisted on buying and wearing into the forest, lest the bugs and dirt anywhere near him. Unfortunately, the black waterproof backpack he lugged to Oregon did not make it with him, and he has only immense regret over leaving it behind in the house. Thankfully, his pants and jacket have enough pockets to fit all of the things he brought with him, but he does miss his bag.
Background:
Fresh out of middle school with an overly jaded outlook on life, Julian doesn’t see why his future won’t be as bleak as his life has been so far. While that doesn’t mean that he won’t fight like hell to try and better it, it also means that he’s expecting a few curveballs. After all, it’s not like life has been great to him so far; being born with a weak heart, skin pale enough to bruise at a tap, and enough allergies to fill the lines on most school medical forms was only the beginning of the list. Adding onto it was an extroverted family that made no effort to understand his perspective and some school bullies who had the kid excused from physical fitness down as easy pickings. Does he blame them? Not really, but yes, he does. And, because of how the world works, that doesn’t matter. With his school and home life being what it is, Julian retreated onto the internet, where he could be separated from his physical shortcomings, be the bully from the other side of a screen and check out when the situation didn’t suit him. Taking out his frustrations on people online was easy. There were no downsides, no repercussions that’d follow him through the different forums and comment sections he frequented. Flaming others over multiplayer game chats, both text and voice, became more a hobby than a way to let off steam, and he takes pride in being able to drive others off, as strange as that sounds. It’s not the most conventional, but it is what it is.
Personality:
Again, Julian’s not the happiest kid on the block. He’s pessimistic and has a fun sponge personality, as his family often likes to say, and he sees nothing wrong with either that or his short-toned responses to everything. The worst thing it does is get people to avoid him, which is the better outcome, in his opinion. While he might’ve called himself shy at one point in time, that point’s long past, and he tends to speak his mind these days—or at least mutter it under his breath if he doesn’t feel comfortable in saying it loud and proud. He’s not particularly brave, and but no one’s called him a coward yet, so there’s that. Collecting votes of confidence might not be in his near future, but he makes do his own way.
